Throughout our first year of trade making mountain bike clothing for women with Flare Clothing Co. we were consistently asked "where is the kit for the guys?" by friends, customers and fans of the brand, so have taken the opportunity to face the world of men's gear with brother brand Flare Rider Co. We have used the same innovative fabrics, stylish aesthetic and quality made-in-the-UK manufacture to produce clothing that stands out amongst the Stravaddicts on the trail or weekend warriors riding the bike park.
And that's it! We need your help to jump-start production and get the processes moving to deliver these garments, so all pledges will be considered as "pre-orders" at up to a massive 40% off RRP. The Spring/Summer 2015 clothing range is detailed below:
Roost is about shredding down gnarly Alpine tracks, digging deep on your race run at Fort William, or sending it on a 30ft double at the local woods. It's built to last, especially when things don't go to plan!
The Roost Jersey is made from abrasion-resistant polyester that is breathable and lightweight while being hard-wearing. It's a loose fit but if you wear bulky body armour order a size bigger. Available in sizes small, medium, large and x-large. RRP £45
The Roost shorts are made from a combination of 500D Cordura and 4-way stretch fabric, making them super tough as well as comfortable. Features include one zipped and one open pocket, adjustable velcro closure and vents to accommodate knee protection. Available in sizes 30", 32", 34" and 36". RRP £70
Stage is about endurance, durability and style. Ascending vertiginous slopes before tearing down roots, rocks, and everything in between.
The Stage jersey is made from a soft-touch polyester that is durable while being lightweight. It also features a concealed pocket that will hold a key, some cash or credit card. Available in small, medium, large, x-large. RRP £50
The Stage shorts are made from a 4-way stretch fabric that is abrasion resistant and water repellant so that you almost can't tell you're wearing them! They too have one zipped and one open pocket, reinforced seat panelling and vents in the knee to still allow some protection and ease of movement. Available in small, medium, large and x-large. RRP £80
Signature Casual Clothing
The Signature range of casual clothing is made from recycled materials and organic cotton. The technical t-shirts use 60% organic cotton and 40% recycled polyester to provide a soft touch with wicking properties, while the hoody is 100% organic cotton. Available in small, medium, large and x-large. RRP £25 - £50
Do you have the spirit of enduro? This technical t-shirt is all about MTB's favourite inside joke. Available in small, medium, large and x-large. RRP £25
Once funding ends (if it's successful!) you'll be sent a survey where you will be able to input your size and colour preferences. We would really appreciate any pledge that you make, and can't wait to see you on the trails!
With many thanks to our friend Nico Turner for the video.
Risks and challenges
The major challenge we face with this project is EXPOSURE! With so many brands making clothing for you to wear when on your bike it's difficult to make an impact, which is why we need you to share this campaign as far and wide as possible.
With enough people pledging their cash for some great quality kit it will mean that we can use this first production run as a springboard to develop new colours, graphics and products. Jackets? Race Pants? Baselayers? Accessories? All of these are possible once we hit our funding target.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
