About this project
"Innovative...people havent seen this before!" - GamesBeat
A new type of game you can play with a smartphone or tablet, a special deck of cards, and some friends. The game is hosted by a real "Siri-like" character who runs the game, comments on its progress & players, judges all the answers, and generally keeps everyone laughing. It will be for IOS and Android and compatible tablets and will have a free downloadable app.
What's with the deck of cards?
It's a very special deck that can be read by the phone or tablet (camera). We plan to bring in celebrity characters and videos when possible that will make this unlike any game you've seen. We also plan to make several sets of cards, so we will have a world class database of entertaining trivia like no one else. Our quirky game hostess is an expert on all subjects (or at least will fake it) and will provide all the answers. She will keep things moving, and keep you chuckeling...but be sure to pay attention as she may mouth-off a little if you don't keep up.
Cards include True / False, Multiple-Guess questions, pictures, videos, and general miscellaneous stuff drawn from both the real world and unreal worlds of pop culture and the obscure. Special emphasis is given to subjects that are funny, creepy, funny, disgusting, funny, bizarre, or totally funny...
Here are some examples of where we are going (answers in italic):
QUESTION: The original novel Frankenstein was the first popular portrayal of:
A. Home electronics
B. Social Justice
D. Crowd sourcing
QUESTION: Which strange eating addiction has been featured on TV:
A. Widow eats husbands ashes
B. Woman eats 7 couches and 2 chairs
C. Man eats 250 light bulbs and 100 glasses.
D. All the above
QUESTION: How much of your brain is water? A. 10% B. 25% C. 60% D. 80%
What could be more fun than watching your friend's head explode? Well, don't forget that many of the questions will include audio and video clips downloaded through your smartphone. This will allow us to deliver new unexpected content that will change-up the game while you play. So don't think the game is limited to just what's on the cards!
But...here's the really cool part...
You can join us in the fun of making this game GREAT!
All backers from any level are invited to submit trivia questions for consideration and inclusion in the final game. What's more fun than being in on the actual game development? Getting credit of course!
• Everyone with an accepted question in the final game will receive a Game Designer credit.
• Everyone with 50 or more accepted questions will receive a Sr. Game Designer credit.
• Anyone with 100 or more accepted questions will receive a MASTER GAME DESIGNER credit and get their own personal trivia card created just for them!
Come on...join in the fun! We know you have it in you!!!
All submissions should fall into one or more of the following categories:
• Slackers (people)
• Modern Maddness (places & things)
• Civilization’s Decline (historical stuff)
• Visual Stimulation (includes a picture or video)
• Twisted Entertainment (Show Biz)
• Creepy Oddities (Strange & Misc.)
Submissions will be judged on the basis of their universal appeal, creativity, humor, and originality. Don't get too obscure as only the best submissions stand a chance of acceptance. Our judges are looking for quality and broad appeal and will be VERY picky. But we know you can do it!
All submissions must have original wording (not just copied from somewhere else), and the author agrees to provide the correct answer and release all rights. No submissions are guaranteed to be selected. uGetit reserves all rights to edit and make all final selections. After we launch, we will update with a link that will provide the details of submitting material. Don't worry, we'll make it EASY on you and ourselves.
For those backers at the $500 level and above, you will receive this stunning statement that you mean business. Perfect for intimidating those annoying "know-it-alls" sitting across from you on the battlefield. They are going DOWN!
Bonus fun for right now:
Just for you on Kickstarter, we thought we'd have a little fun. Below is a picture of the backdrop in our video (Al's office). It contains some semi-precious artifacts from toys & games history, and we thought we'd like to challenge you to spot 'em. Some have never been seen before, so good luck!
Also...included above is a never-before-been-heard clip from a crazy radio commercial actually produced for Atari over 40 years ago! Its highly irreverent, INSANELY FUNNY, and was never released (you'll see why!). Right now its only a few seconds long, but when we achieve 50% of our funding goal, we'll expand it to 50% of the commercial (over 1 minute long), and the whole thing when we hit 100% funded (over 2 minutes long!). You wont believe it!!!
Just our way of saying thanks, and we appreciate your backing!

Risks and challenges
We are hoping to get a good level of participation from our creative backers to help build a very cool trivia database. But its possible that this may not happen which could slow things down and cause some delays. Another possibility would be if we received an overwhelming response, which could also cause delays just dealing with submissions. But building the highest overall entertainment quality into the database has the highest importance, and we recognize this!
The technology behind this is unique, but not especially risky as there are several proven routes to get to the same end. We will be subcontracting some of the work to proven contractors that we already have established relationships with. But there is always a risk to the schedule when doing creative work.
Another risk involves licensing celebrity characters and copy-written material. We are quite familiar with this process, having done it many times. But it is always uncertain how this will go before you start. Fortunately there are lots of alternatives and we are not locked into any one thing.
A highly important aspect of Seriously?! is to make our virtual characters become seamless players in the game. We have a good plan for this based on over 30 years of game development experience. But we also know that sometimes it takes longer to reach the quality level needed and we've already built some extra time into the schedule for this.
All of the money raised here (and more!) will go directly into the game. But overall, we feel there is little risk of not delivering our game we envision. If we do encounter delays, we'll let you know. But we will get it done.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We will be spending on a whole game team (programmers, artists, designers) to build the game on IOS, Android, and compatible tablets. In addition, we will be setting up to manufacture and ultimately distribute the printed cards. The trivia database will include written material, graphics, and even video clips that will need to be licensed and edited. We even want to potentially bring in some well known individuals/celebrities to shoot video and record original material for the game.
Seriously?! is not planned to be like other trivia card games. Its important to know that we are planning for many of the cards to open up additional content to be downloaded automatically online. We've planned for "Bonus Questions" to show up regularly that are not tied to cards, but are tied to how the game is actually playing out. Plus the combination of written, audio, picture, and video content will be extensive and regularly updated.
We will also have more question decks available through time, so you will get a lot of value above the basic investment. But we want the first deck to blow you away.
It must also be said that we have not played this game fully ourselves, and the final tuning of it cannot be done until later. For this reason, the number of 50 cards per deck is a minimum estimate, and we may choose to add more to a basic deck once we can play this ourselves.
