Kia Ora e te Whanau
Over the past three years of my life I have had the pleasure of getting to know seven individuals along the most wonderful journey…
This band is everything to me. Aside from the love of my family and friends, this band and the music we craft is the reason I get up each day. Everyone in Mice on Stilts has become an incredibly important part of my life; my best friends.
Mice on Stilts are an 8 piece collective based out of Auckland, New
Zealand. Last year we released our EP 'An Ocean Held Me' which was generously funded by the help of our friends. We have ridden the success of the EP through and through with shows across New Zealand, selling out of physical copies, humbling local & off-shore reviews If your interested please check out our page on Progarchives which features a good handful of reviews -http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=44552) and recently opening for YES at Aotea’s ASB theatre.
So we consider it our privilege to reveal the next chapter in the Mice on Stilts story; “Hope for a Mourning”.
We are nearing completion of the recording of our first full length 'Hope for a Mourning'. It’s current state is in several hard-drives of raw recorded files: take after take of electric & classic guitar, vocals, drums, bass, sax, synth, trumpet, trombone, vocal effects, viola, cello, pianos and even a choir has united for this project. In need of the mix and master process, our next steps are completely dependent on people who enjoy the music we make. This album simply cannot be produced without your contribution. Yes, the album is very close to being finished, however we cannot release it without paying for it.
“Hope for a Mourning is a snapshot of the last year of my life. In essence it’s my experience as a human being over the course of 8 poetic movements. These songs are the product of interrogation; namely of myself as well as reflections on people I love and the interactions we all have with the world around.
My hope for these songs is they can do some good in this world.
My “prayer” even, is that the listener can find sound that enables them to feel something, anything.
I guess we just have to let them go and I’m sure they will
find their own way, as will we.
There is literally nothing else I would rather do than continue to create with these guys. Traveling further and further down the rabbit hole and see where we end up. Take a risk and jump into the unknown together.
And that is our invitation to you. Support us and enjoy a bit of this madness as a partner.
The release show:
Our intention once this album comes out is to play a launch show for the album in a small theater equipped with the arsenal of the choir as well as you’re favorite guys on stage playing a 90 minute set with an intermission in the middle. 'An Evening with Mice on Stilts' if you will.
Please note this is the minimum amount we need to get this album out.
Thank you for taking the time to engage with this kickstarter campaign, its much appreciated.
Risks and challenges
Getting 8 individuals together on a regular basis to do anything is a massive challenge in itself, so we are well prepared to tackle any hurdles that may arise.
We have already booked in all studio time required and just need to organise manufacture of physical products once the funding has come through.
If we are successful in this campaign fulfilling these rewards will be our first priority.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
