Bird Languages by Sen Wisher

$2,680

103

Earlier this year, I made 🐦 Bird Languages 🐦 with the help of my friends Stephen Cope, Stuart Wheeler, and Sophie Blair. It's a modern mythology that follows neighborhood birds through forest-sized feelings. And I'm bringing it here to Kickstarter to ask for your help in building a nest for it.

Bird Languages is going out into the world to all streaming platforms November 23rd on Song Club Records. Gaining your support here means we get to do even more with these songs — a physical release on tape or vinyl (!), live performances, and possibly album merch.

The good news? My super talented friends have already made hall-of-fame painterly album art, music videos, and a hand-drawn videogame. This kickstarter is your way of joining them in walking this big road with me — helping music exist that maybe makes life a little more bearable, enjoyable, and meaningful.

🎷🐦 ?? What does it sound like !? 🐦🎻

Bird Language’s soundscape is many-feathered. When I asked friends to describe it, here's what I got back:

📞: "It feels like intricate vector folk."
📞: "Sounds like orchestral parrot pop to me!"
📞: "A haze of chirp-rock and eagle-eye’d-power-trance?"
📞: "Getting a lot of radio interference from the aviary down the street."

But its sonic wingspan covers even more ground.

Bedroom hymns at an organ slowly take flight. Frustrated drums dissolve into jubilant brass. Xeroxed harmonies appear. A viola soars above the birdsong of self-talk below. Bristling nylon strings conjure cross-stitched drones.

It was produced at Studio Studio Dada, a beloved and acclaimed do-it-yourself studio in Provo run by Stephen Cope. And mastered at The Unknown in Anacortes by Nich Wilbur — a studio known for its honest and chapel-sized albums from Mount Eerie and LAKE.

These songs feel comfortable, sure of themselves, and at-home because of the two studios involved in sculpting their sound. You'll get to hear that firsthand as we share singles leading up to and following the release.

☁️🦅 Stretch goals 🦅☁️

We don't want to count all our eggs 🥚 before they hatch, so these goals aren't totally set in stone. Some things I'd love to be able to stretch to:

  • Tape reward! 🦉
  • Vinyl reward! 🕊

I know you're going to love this record, and want to stan it with a beautiful physical release. Here are the main ways you can help:

  • Tweet about this kickstarter and share it on social media
  • Send messages to people you think would really love this album
  • See if we can get sponsored by the National Audubon Society
  • Show this kickstarter to your really famous friends
  • Get this music placed in an upcoming Suburu commercial

⭐️✨🐤  Thanks in advance for all your help! 🐤 ✨⭐️

This album really means a lot to me and I'm excited to share these big things with you soon.
