About

David Shriver played the Bass for Eddie Cochran, The Kelly Four and Trini Lopez which took him around the world many times. Along with drummer and best friend  Mickey Jones, now a famous movie and television actor and author, David and Mickey were friends of the Beatles and many celebrities with whom they shared the stage. After multiple appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and theTonight Show with Johnny Carson, David later moved from Hollywood and settled in the great Pacific Northwest where he raised a family and made many good friends. Music being his main passion, David played his Bass every day and performed professionally at least once a week. I was fortunate to meet David Shriver in the early 1980s when we played with NW legend, Clayton Watson and The Trends. Throughout the years David and I and our families and friends intertwined, he and I becoming brothers, an elite group of some of his closest including actor-author and musician Mickey Jones, along with Clayton. In 2007 I joined forces with David and started my new band with David at my side, laying down some of the sweetest and hottest Bass playing I've ever heard anywhere! Feeling privileged to have known him as I did and devastated by losing him to heart failure and stroke - I organized a series of events in his memory which could not have been so successful were it not for the help of so many others such as Calvin Taylor, Jimmy Ritchey, Backfire Band and more. Then, an inspiration hit me to write a song that would embody his story and part of his wonderful big heart and smile. He always asked that we include " Boney Marony " in our repertoire each show we did, especially the big outdoor fairs and festivals! So, I thought it would be appropriate to create a song that had his favorite key ( E ) and tempo. The result is a fun and musically challenging song that hopefully many people can relate to. Not everyone gets a Hollywood Walk Of Fame star, but we can still memorialize a friend and a brother in song. I hope you will join us and help me to tell this story to the world. Peace

Risks and challenges

The only possible risks and challenges would be that since this is a music production utilizing many different musicians, it is possible that since they are all volunteering to be a part of this historic project, other obligations or illnesses may exclude them for participation. We have developed a significant work around by calling on understudies and backup players for every single instrument. There will be over twenty musicians including two drummers and two additional percussionists completing just the rhythm section. The final product will be handled with reliable partners Disk Makers and CD Baby for digital distribution and physical packaging. Out side of the above mentioned, we expect this audio recording and short-film documentary to be completed by December 15, 2012.
