About this project
The Con*Quest Adventure Journal™ is your place to stick, stuff and journal your fan or comic con experiences as they are happening. Why do you need it? The real question is why wouldn’t you need it?
We developed the idea of the Con*Quest Adventure Journal from our years of fan and comic convention shows. From the days of my very first Twilight con, I started collecting photo-ops, autographs, vendor business cards and lots of memories. But what did I do with them all when I got home? I hung up a few things, but everything else was left in their plastic con bags and stuffed in the closet. With each show, I continued to amass more stuff. Autographs I can no longer identify. Business cards for things I loved when I saw but now have no idea what caught my eye. My photo-op with Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead? Ended up in manila envelope in my desk drawer (gasp).
My panel notes from the last panel William Shatner/Leonard Nimoy did at a con? Lost to my Twitter feed. That’s where the Con*Quest Adventure Journal comes in. It’s an idea that’s so simple yet fills a very big need in the comic con experience. And we need your help to produce our next batch of journals, tote bags and accessories. With this funding, we will be able to order another production run and sell them online and at upcoming shows for the remainder of 2014. Our production company is based in the US (Arkansas to be exact) and each journal is handcrafted.
What is it?
It’s a journal for everything you do at a con. It’s that simple. There are seven sections that cover the con experience:
• Autograph Quest - Have actors, authors, and artists sign right on the pages. Take a picture of them signing your journal and stick it by their signature. You’ll always know who signed it and have it kept forever safe in your journal.
• Artist Quest – Almost every show has an amazing array of talented artists called Artist Alley. You can have an artist sketch right in your journal, get a few small pieces of art or stickers to add, take a picture of the artist creating that one of a kind drawing for you and BAM! You have an awesome customer page.
• Cosplay Quest – You have some of the frickin funniest pictures on your phone. They’ve never seen the light of day, have they? Did you get your picture with 5 Deadpools? Do you have a selfie with Darth Vader? We made pages to inspire you to get those shots printed, write down what you saw and revel in the only place on earth you will find this kind of fun.
• Panel Quest – Write down the funniest quotes that you hear at a panel from your favorite actors and artists. Sure, you can type that in your phone or Twitter, but I bet you never look at them again. When you make a page of those quotes, it’s a keepsake to show off and keep.
• Peep Quest – Yes, you can follow, add and text those awesome new kindred spirits on your phone. But nothing is more fun than some great selfies with new fun people or that group of close family and friends that you’re hanging out with. Get ‘em and stick ‘em here. Put their info in the book. When you have your post-con blues, you will love seeing your old and new friends again in your journal.
• Vendor Quest – There are so many cool things in the vendor room. Even if you can’t buy everything you love, you can jot down your favorite vendor names and snap a shot of what you loved. You’ll thank me later.
• City Quest – If you’ve been to a show in the same city more than once, you will totally get the need for this. What hotel is attached to the convention center? Does Jimmy Johns deliver there? What was that great bar that was so close, your aching feet didn’t mind the walk? Write it all down in your journal and snap some photos so you can remember the good and the bad for next time!
We commissioned an artist to create the 32 pages of the journal. The pages are bright and fun, just like a con. They can be moved and changed to fit your experience and your personality because we used a standard, 3-ring format. We have included four 9” x 12” plastic sleeves to protect and showcase your photos, artwork and comics. There is also the INVALUABLE business card holder that you will not believe you ever lived without. And don’t forget THE ZIPPER POUCH! It’s the perfect place to stuff tickets and things you grab. Plus we include a Sharpie with every journal. Who doesn’t love a Sharpie?
Like I noted before, the journal is handcrafted in Arkansas (MADE IN THE USA!) from canvas, board and faux leather. The cover and pages are printed locally by our production company and each journal is put together by hand. The canvas tote bags are also hand sewn and are customized to fit our journals, with a long messenger handle that makes the cross-body carry of the journal easy to get to and easy to access. I do not like to scrapbook so we wanted to make a journal that is super easy to just stick stuff in while at the show, inspire you to actually PRINT a few of those really awesome pictures you took with your phone while there, and put those in a place that you can show off. Not only will you capture the great things you love to do at a con in your journal, but you will be inspired to experience new aspects of the show that you haven’t tried before. Never been to artist alley? You will want to get an original sketch right in your journal as your own personal, one of a kind keepsake. You don’t usually attend the panels? You will want to go so you can jot down the most compelling or hilarious quotes that come from some of your favorite actors and artists.
What people are saying about it
“No matter how many people I showed this journal to, the reaction was the same. “What a great idea!” they all exclaimed. “I wonder why no one has ever thought of this before?” My thoughts exactly. After attending many a convention and always coming home with the same jumble of con memories that I want to preserve, but never quite get around to sorting through, I find that this is the perfect solution to not only preserving the memories, but also enhancing the convention experience as a whole.”
“I'm simply floored by the attention to detail throughout the journal.”
Sarah Mertan – ConShark News
“If you’re in the market for a genuine one-of-a-kind souvenir of your weekend, look no further.”
"This journal is great idea, it helps you keep all those con memories in one place, immediately. .... Which, in my opinion, is pretty ingenious."
Seth Walker – Customer, Indy PopCon
"Con*Quest Journal was amazing! It made it so convenient to keep track of everything I had signed, the pictures I had taken, and all of the business cards from artists that I wanted to keep in touch with. I don't think I would have left with everything intact without it! Now it makes for a cool scrapbook to showoff everything I did during my last Con, would definitely buy it again the next time around."
Brinkley and Becca – Customers, C2E2
“Becca and I loved our books. Through the last day we were asking our favorite artists, cosplayers, even a few FX special effects guys to sign our books.
Clint Covarrubias – Customer, Dallas Comic Con
“Had so much fun using this at Dallas ComiCon! I HIGHLY recommend this journal.”

Risks and challenges
We fully anticipate being able to meet all deadlines and fulfillment. The only challenges we face are if we do not get funded before July 16, we won't be able to ship any journals before San Diego Comic Con. If there is a show you need your journal for, just reach out of us and we'll do everything we can to get yours to you in time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
