About this project
Well, this campaign may not succeed, but This is Not the End! Back now (it's free if it doesn't fund) for future updates of Tabletop Props. Plans are in the works.
Tabletop Props WILL succeed!
Why Tabletop Props?
I'm a miniature enthusiast. I've been a collector for years. During this time I've found that miniature props and terrain are hard to come by.
Of all the miniature based hobbies out there, very few have retail props and terrain.
- Toy train enthusiasts have a decent selection, but it's expensive and not really meant to be touched. Set it up, look at it, but don't touch.
Wargamers make their own props and terrain. It looks great, but it takes a great deal of time, talent, and money.
- Diorama kits are permanent displays. Once it's built, it's finished. It's not very versatile and a lot closer to art than a toy.
Of these few options available, none are very durable, none very useful.
Tabletop Props aims to change all this.
What are Tabletop Props?
Three goals; detailed, affordable, and durable.
We worked with multiple factories and set them all to the task of working on the same prototype, the Covered Wagon.
The factory with the best quality and price won out. Then we started talking paint and packaging.
Yes, Tabletop Props will come fully painted.
The Covered Wagon
The first piece in Tabletop Props line-up is the Covered Wagon.
I chose the Covered Wagon to be the flagship piece because of its versatility. Whether you are into fantasy tabletop games, war games, or toy trains, this Covered Wagon is perfect for your hobby.
There are a total of 16 pieces that make up the complete Covered Wagon, each of which is removable.
The base alone is fully detailed and allows the Covered Wagon to become a simple Wagon Bed. What will you do with yours?
The cover comes off, allowing three 1” base miniatures to fit inside and be visible, or the cover can slide back on and hide them again.
The lanterns, barrels, and bags can be used as detail pieces around your hobby table, or leave each attached to the wagon for the complete effect.
Variant Paint Jobs
Choose your wagon! When this Kickstarter is over, a survey will ask which wagons you would like to receive. I suggest one of each, at least!
There are four variant paint wagons available at this time.
- The Classic Covered Wagon
- The Traveler's Wagon
- The Battle-Worn Wagon
- Primer Coat Wagon, ready for your custom paint job.
This reward is perfect for those who don't really want a wagon, but want all those awesome add-ons. Shipping for up to 5 add-ons is included along with 8 of these barrels.
If your reward includes the Covered Wagon and you want 8 of these barrels as well, just add $5.
The Covered Wagon Reward
The bulk of this campaign is the Covered Wagon, but our friends Lord Zsezse Works and Assassin Games have been generous enough to lend their support. With each Covered Wagon receive a papercraft Rectory Set along with an exclusive adventure created just for Tabletop Props.
Choose the Classic, Gypsy, Battle-Worn, or Primer Coat Covered Wagon. Add an extra wagon of your choice for $22.
The Complete Covered Wagon
For years I've made my own props and terrain. Two favorites are my hand-crafted rocks and lake tiles. Included in this reward are not only the Covered Wagon, papercraft Rectory Set, and Covered Wagon Adventure, but also 3 hand-crafted rocks and 2 lake tiles. Quantities are limited as each rock and lake is a custom made one-of-a-kind.
These hand made Lake Tiles are very difficult to photograph. It's hard to capture the light glistening off their "waves".
Once a stretch goal is met that piece will immediately become available as an add-on!
For every five pieces added on to a reward, a $5 shipping charge will be applied.
Dead Tree - $35,000
Way Post - $40,000
Tent - $45,000
Campfire - $50,000
Stump - $55,000
Log - $60,000
Each Tabletop Prop is meticulously crafted to be extremely detailed and affordable. These pieces are being professionally made and painted by an established toy company through injection molding. The mold cost for models of this quality is pretty expensive.
This is why I've launched this Kickstarter.
The Covered Wagon is completely ready for development. The prototype is done, the paint is done. I simply need to fund the final mold and production can begin. With this mold paid for and the Covered Wagon available for purchase, more molds can be made for additional pieces.
I would love to be able to raise funds all at once for an entire set of Tabletop Props, but experience has taught me this process is a marathon, not a long jump.
Series and Sets
The goal of Tabletop Props is to offer many different series each with many different sets. The series is the theme each set is based around.
This Kickstarter is for the series "Into the Wild." This series focuses on outdoor props and terrain. Obviously this is a broad category with a lot of possibilities. These possibilities are called sets.
Tabletop Props will eventually package 7 pieces together in a single set, the first is called "Into the Wild: Crossroads Campsite." With your support of this humble beginning Tabletop Props will be able to offer this complete set in the near future.
Additional sets of “Into the Wild” may be based around caves and caverns, the desert, swamp, and more. Future series will be based around Castles and Corridors, Dungeons, Towns, and more. Each of these too, will have multiple sets available. The next set available will be up to you!
Of course, individual pieces will be available for sale at TabletopProps.com
When this Kickstarter is complete I will send out a survey asking what you’d like to see as your next set of Tabletop Props.
Our friends at Lord Zsezse Works have been generous enough to include a papercraft building and well with every Covered Wagon purchased.
Give Lord Zsezse Works a big Thank You by checking out their currently ongoing and already funded Kickstarter for an Elven Papercraft Tower and Wall Set.
Our friends at Assassin Games have designed an exclusive adventure based around the Covered Wagon.
Risks and challenges
The Covered Wagon is ready to go, production has begun. Now, how to get it to you. First, I need to receive the goods. This process will differ depending on quantities ordered. Whether by air or by sea, the ship times are out of my control when things like weather and customs get involved.
Once the goods are mine, US shipping will be easy. International shipping will take a little longer. The good news is, production is ready to go. Shipping is the only concern and only for the timing.
Depending on which stretch goals are attained, prototypes will need to be made and scrutinized. I won't rush and sacrifice quality. This process will take as long as necessary to get a perfect product produced.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
