About this project
What is Wobbly Peyote?
Wobbly Peyote is a simple tactile, slot together game of balance and skill. Suitable for all ages, the toy is designed to be as attractive as it is entertaining. Simply place the prickly pear on top, and slowly add the cactus ears, taking care not to overbalance the cactus and topple the fruit.
Designed and made by me, London based designer Tim Summers. The initial idea for Wobbly Peyote came about in my final year of study at the Cass Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. I wanted to design a toy that not only encouraged the element of play in both children and adults, but something that could also sit comfortably as a decorative item when not in use. Now a recent graduate of the Cass, I am looking for YOUR help to achieve my Kickstarter goal and to bring one of my first products to market
How is Wobbly Peyote made?
Wobbly Peyote is a premium product designed and made in the UK and constructed using a combination of hand crafted components and high tech production methods. The bases are hand cast using a mixture of resin and marble dust. The cactus body is made from 3mm ply wood and is hand screen printed using water based ink before being laser cut. All components are then assembled by me, by hand in my East London workshop.
The images below show early prototypes and the toy being developed in the studio.
As parts of the toy are handmade each Wobbly Peyote is very slightly different, this does not effect the high quality of each product in any way.
The laser cutting process uses a laser to cut with precision accuracy. As part of this process some light irregular colouration occurs around the edges of the cut cactus ears - giving them a quirky organic appearance, rather than a slick perfectly cut finish.
Please note that this is still a prototype and contains small parts, children should only play with Wobbly Peyote under adult supervision. Not suitable for very young children. Once Wobbly Peyote is fully funded we look forward to having it fully tested and certified.
All pledges will be fulfilled in the order that I receive them, unless otherwise stated.
Why do I need funding?
I am a young designer at the beginning of my career. I have spent the last 8 months developing the Wobbly Peyote toy and am now at a stage to share it with the rest of the world!
I'm ready to go into production with this product but need help with the initial cost of buying materials and to fund all of the work that goes into making these fun little toys.
As a reward for your generosity in supporting this project you could receive a Wobbly Peyote toy at the special Kickstarter price, along with many other enticing reward options listed on the right hand side of the screen.
All rewards are shipped in the UK for free, shipping to other parts of the world will incur an extra shipping fee (see specific rewards for details)
Thanks very much for your support!! and please feel free to share this campaign with anyone you think my be interested.
The Cass Starters Project
This project is part of the Cass Starters collective crowd funding initiative. The aim is to bring together the enthusiasm of young creative graduates with the infrastructure and support of The Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.
Cass Starters recognises the power of working together!
Individually, we have limited brand name power but collectively, we have plenty of ambition, skill, and creative energy. Most significantly, we share a strong social network - a solid culture of support and collaboration, which we have cultivated during our time studying together.
All this, coupled with support from The Cass and designer Peter Marigold, our tutor in our last year.
Watch the video we made about the collective project and check out the other three Cass Starter campaigns by following the links below.

Risks and challenges
I have been working on the development of this product for a long time to make sure that I am ready to start production as soon as the kickstarter campaign has finished. I am also aware of every aspect of the production process that could cause any delay in the fulfilment stage. I will do everything I possibly can to stick to the scheduled deadlines I have highlighted in my campaign and will keep you updated with any information if any unfortunate problems are encountered during production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
