WHY WE WANT TO MAKE IT
They don't make enough old school monster movies anymore. Cholos vs Vampires will be just that. They also don't make enough movies with Latinos! 95% of the cast will be Latino. The shoot will take place in East LA, using the local community for cast, crew and services. This is what makes this movie important. It gives opportunities to a segment of people that aren't fully represented in front of or behind the camera.
Shyboy, a cholo from East LA, is in hot water. His girlfriend Sadgirl is having a baby and the gangbanger world is no place to raise a kid. Shyboy turns to his friend Justo to escape the dangerous world he grew up in. But it won't be easy. Cucuy, a disloyal and bloodthirsty new leader is taking over. Little does Shyboy know that the mysterious vampire attacks in the neighborhood will spin things out of control. Shyboy will have to stand up to lead the gang to fight much more than rival cholos and save his girl.
WHERE DOES MONEY GO?
We want to make a high quality movie. We plan on hiring the best in the business, from the director of photography all the way down to the monster makers. We are using practical effects, which will help us achieve that awesome b-movie look. But just one of the vampire creatures will cost $25k to make! To top it off, filming in Los Angeles can be expensive. We will pull out all the favors and work to make the most out of every cent, but we need your help to make a great looking feature film!
We are so excited that Conrad Pope has agreed to compose the music for Cholos vs Vampires. Conrad has been the orchestrator for huge films like THE HOBBIT, JURASSIC PARK, and the STAR WARS prequels. We've worked with Conrad in the past and luckily he hasn't forgotten about us. He will provide this film with an incredible score.
Our main goal is to make fun and entertaining movie. To do that, we want to portray the monsters and cholos in a badass and realistic way. Yes, the title of our movie sounds funny but we're making an AMAZING monster movie with incredible creatures and a great cast (with your help!) Each monster will cost the same as a new car, and trust us, it will be worth it! So the more money we raise, the more monsters we get to add.
Ideally we want five different creatures to be in the hive. Each will look different and have a unique personality. Our initial goal will be to raise enough money to get the first creature made and into production. Our extended goals will help us build the rest of the hive. Help us bring these incredible monsters to life!
Cholos vs Vampires will get made with your generous support. In return, we'll deliver a kick ass movie. We're also offering some exclusive rewards for helping the project. From official T-shirts by Gabriel Frias to on set visits, there's something for everyone. Some of these are limited items and once they're gone...
Finally, we just want to thank you for checking out our project. This is our first Kickstarter and we appreciate your consideration. We're happy to answer any questions you might have. Please visit our website at Cholosvsvampires.com to contact us.
Risks and challenges
Every penny will be on the screen. Scott and I are two passionate filmmakers that will fulfill that promise. We will sweat blood and tears to make you proud and happy that you supported this project. We know it's an act of faith to support a project that hasn't been made. We've completed TV shows and feature films. We will make a quality film with quality people. It's one of the reasons we put alot of work into this Kickstarter campaign. We wanted to show contributors that we'll work hard to make this happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
