About this project
The Mount Anywhere LED was designed to put bright, efficient, LED light anywhere there was a flat surface.
About us: We are a product design group that specializes in electronic products. Jack Heiser (30+ years of electrical engineering) handles the engineering and Clayton Heiser handles the sourcing and manufacturing operations. Our last project we successfully designed was a rugged high voltage LED light that can literally be run over with a humvee. It is super awesome but super expensive and not very versatile.
When we looked out on to the market for cost effective low voltage linear LED lights, the most of what we found were really expensive or the less expensive ones attached with either plastic or sheet metal brackets. These mounting brackets were difficult to align and space, unsightly, and could snap off or break. If it didn't have a bracket, the hardware was visible out in the open for people to see the stripped out screw heads. We came up with the MOUNT ANYWHERE LED, a bracket-less system.
This unique system that can be mounted a variety of different ways.
Great mounting locations include:
- Kitchen under counter light
- Workbench or desk light
- With a solar panel
- In a storage shed
- In a boat
- In a RV
- Trunk of your car
- At a tailgate
- Overhead your trailer
- Emergency light in your car
- Portable task light
- Anywhere you need LED light this light can mount!
The backbone of our light is an aluminum extrusion that provides both rigidity as well as heat-sinking of the LED light engine. The extrusion is a nominal 11" for mounting flexibility in a variety of different applications and tight areas. Our extrusion has ribbed flanges on either side of the LED for a flexibility of mounting options.
Mounting options include:
- Drilling holes at any place you desire to put screws: metal, plastic, wood, concrete, or whatever you want to drill in to. No brackets to align or snap, no sliding around, and no need to worry about sightly screw heads.
- Or drill through surface with self drilling screws and don't even worry about pre-drilling a hole
- Drill holes and rivet at your desired frequency and spacing.
- Glue, caulk, or epoxy the light to a surface. The wide flat back and ridges provide a strong hold for adhesives
- Or use a high adhesive foam tape that will expand in to the channels and ribs to create a high bond surface.
- Drill a hole through the aluminum and put a hook to hang like a lantern. Great for camping or car repair.
- Screw and nut magnets through each side so the light will magnet to any iron/steel surface.
Included with every light will be 4 self drilling screws and adhesive foam tape for either attachment method.
Then simply snap on the lens and all is hidden!
The lens will be an acrylic based clear extruded lens with built in diffuser properties that will maximize light transmission while creating a fuzzy softer LED look and hiding all hardware.
Injection molded plastic end pieces will close the ends up and allow a cord to pass through.
Our leds are Warm White (3000K) meaning its not the blue light many people think of with LED. A typical incandescent light bulb is 2700K to 3,000K.
Our LEDs are more than 5x more efficient than incandescent and 2x halogen!
Each light is super bright at 300 lumens! Equivalent to a 20-25w Light bulb with all that light focused downward!
We have designed our extrusion to maximize the heat dissipation in the given space of the LED to maximize longevity and lumen maintenance of the light source.

Where We're At
We've completed all the illumination and heat transfer testing and have 3D printed parts for fit testing. We have finished revising the engineering on the plastic and aluminum dies. We have a working prototype with a lens sample and flat aluminum backing, now all we need is Kickstarter's help to make get the tooling dies for production!
With the tooling dies we can produce our engineered aluminum body and lens.
LED circuitry will be turn key produced by another vendor with our parts list so we won't have to worry about that assembly.
We have the space to manufacture it ourselves but if it gets large we also have a contract manufacturer lined up that can help us meet demand.

Comes with a power cord coming out the side to a cigarette lighter plug. This plug will have an on/off switch so you can leave it plugged in all the time if desired! Easily plug in to your car, camper, RV, boat!
Also included is an AC universal input cigarette plug wall adapter so you can plug it in the wall or use it on an extension cord.
2 of our 12VDC Mount Anywhere LED light with DC connectors on each end. Kit produces as much light as a 40w of light bulb. This kit is for indoor wall power use.
Comes with a universal input wall power supply . Each light connects with DC connectors. The DC dimmer is connected in line before the lights to allow you to dim them down to your desired brightness. This kit would be great for under kitchen under-cabinet lighting, work benches, shelves, back splash lighting, etc.
Includes a 12W 12VDC UL Listed 90-264VAC input power supply that is NON-DIMMABLE. Also includes an inline knob-style DC dimmer that WILL DIM THE LIGHT on the DC side. Note this is DC dimmer. Kit not meant to be wall dimmed. Please follow instructions.

Risks and challenges
With any project there are challenges no matter how much you plan things out. We have the manufacturing experience here and know some of the challenges to expect.
With any extruding process drawings and prints will have to vary slightly even though we tried our best to design for manufacturability.
The extruding die of the lens will have to be touched up after its machined so that it gets the exact fit we want because there will be manufacturing tolerances.
Supply chain of the parts sourced to make this happen could have a hiccup but we think we have allowed enough time to allow for any of that as well as assembly time.
And we've already lined up outside assembly if we need it.
