We’re sure you’ve fought a toilet with a plunger a time or two, but has the toilet fought back? Have you ever thwarted a giant, marshmallow mob boss using a makeshift flaming toilet paper roll launcher that would make MacGyver proud? If you answered no, welcome to our off-the-wall journey. If you answered yes, then we’re concerned, but this is still the game that will leave you wanting s'more.
The Adventures of Sancho-N-Rusimus is a story of two best friends that inherit an old arcade side scroller that they become addicted to and ends up invading their dreams. These dreams become the game play and it is your job to fight your way out of this insane fantasy world.
During their whimsically morbid adventures through dungeons and bathrooms, players’ will battle possessed toilets, evil giant marshmallows and many, many other unseemly characters with weapons like flaming toilet paper guns attack spatulas and gas powered plungers.
The game play is mirrored after a 2D side scroller with each level encountering various enemies, puzzles and defeating bosses (Land Sharks anyone?). Players will be boosted with various armor and power-ups, including the very powerful (if not incredibly invasive) giant human ‘helping hand’ which can be earned and used to help the puppets when they are in serious trouble. Each level has it's own armor and weapon set that can be collected and upgraded.
The mechanics of the armor system in the game is one of our biggest current focuses. In each level you have the opportunity to collect armor that will help you complete the more difficult parts of that dream world. Each dream world will have 3 levels, and the pieces of the armor set are scattered throughout the 3 levels. You will find some of the armor pieces simply by playing the game and others are hidden throughout the level either in crates or boxes, or in hidden areas throughout the world. Chances are you will need to play the levels more than once to gather all pieces of the armor. One of the things we are most excited about is the leveling system for each piece of armor! As you build your level set, each piece is upgrade-able to 3 tiers. You can upgrade each piece of armor by completing challenges in the game or spending colored doughnut sprinkles that you collect, or for the impatient, purchase in the game store. Remember, you can only upgrade armor pieces after they have been found in the game! Finally, each world has their own unique armor set that the puppets can collect, they will be displayed in the armor and weapons gallery. Collecting and upgrading all armor and weapon sets in each world will unlock a secret so secret, that it is the mother of all secrets!!! What is the secret? we told you then it wouldn't be a secret, nor would it be the mother of all secret secrets!! OK fine we will tell you. Once you unlock all of the armor and weapon sets in the game, you will unlock a boss's boss level with a boss so ruthless that you you will need to put all of your armor sets together into one mega set in order to have a chance of defeating him... or her... or it....

One of the frustrations we find when playing side scrolling action games is that when you pick up a weapon, you generally tend to lose the ability of the other weapon. For example, I picked up the laser power-up and as a result lost the spread-shot power-up!. Our game will have none of that nonsense! When you pick up a power-up it will stack onto the power-up you currently have by either adding another feature to it, or by improving it's capabilities! Our Plunge-Master 3000 for example may start out as a simple plunger, but after a few power upgrades will be a force to be reckoned with!

Now imagine having the fully loaded Plunge-Master 3000 and you suddenly come upon a power up for a rocket launcher.
Will we throw away your ability to plunge your evil enemies into oblivion? Nay! We will simply attach the rocket launcher to the plunger or put it in your other hand and let you continue to go nuts with both!

Sancho Del Chayito is a 35-year-old Mexican from the streets of Cabo San Lucas. He is generally well put together and has very few worries… with the exception that he is extremely afraid of public toilets. Sancho is a laid-back, traditional Mexican male; though he does not follow the traditional machismo style of traditional males. Sancho demonstrates a keen understanding of people and social situations. He has a love for the simple things in life. His favorite pastime is to sit on a park bench and watch the world go by. His favorite snack is a well-prepared peanut butter and banana crepe and his favorite place to get one is at his best friend’s restaurant. Sancho used to work as a water taxi operator in Cabo San Lucas before moving to the United States. He went to school to become a psychologist, and oftentimes provides therapy sessions for his neurotic, yet best friend Rusimus. He also owns a small used bookshop nearby. Did we mention that he enjoys Mariachi music and death metal?
Rusimus Von Rusimus is full of life and extremely curious. If he doesn't know what something is, he will quickly let you know it and ask for a definition. He sometimes has a difficult time paying attention and will often break off into a tangent right in the middle of a conversation. He is generally happy and occasionally frightened. He is rarely sad, but very empathetic. Rusimus does not know where he comes from but he knows he is from somewhere far away. He woke up one day without any recollection of where he was from or how he got there. Rusimus met Sancho on the bow of a fishing boat bound for the US and they have been best friends ever since. Rusimus is aspiring to be a world famous crepe chef. He currently owns his own restaurant called “Shwat the Crepe?” which he hopes will one day become a chain. Rusimus has an undying fear of the People's Revolutionary Front. He doesn't know exactly why they are after him, but he is sure that they are trying to get to him for his secret recipes.
Russ Francis (The voice and soul of Rusimus) started the first motion capture animation service studio in Utah back in 2003. He has provided and/or directed animation for numerous games and film including Advent Rising, Bloodrayne 2, and Who Moved My Cheese? Russ has consulted with many high-end studios and universities on their own animation programs and is currently producing and slated to direct the upcoming feature animated film, Jacob T. Marley. Russ is also an expert level programmer and will be providing a great deal of the back-end work needed for the game.Jamison Law (The voice and soul of Sancho) is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah and holds a Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Shane Olson (3D Modeler of the Sancho and Rusimus Characters) is a Senior Character Artist at Disney Interactive, responsible for sculpting a great deal of the characters for Disney Infinity and teaching the world over how to model characters properly. Shane brings a wealth of knowledge on optimizing models and is by far the most talented Zbrush modeler we have ever met.
Mark Sorenson (Art Director) is the Game Art Program Chair at Broadview Entertainment Arts University or BEAU.
Speaking of BEAU, we've teamed up with Broadview Entertainment Arts University in Salt Lake City to give students the chance to work on a professional game. They'll be involved with the animation and development of the game. We’re hoping this game ‘kickstarts’ their careers too. Ha Ha . . .ha . . .
Rando Schmook (Tech Director) Any Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans out there? Well, we’ve got the Amazing Rando on board who will be helping with tech directing and story writing. Rando has been involved with films like X-Men, Ali, Dances with Wolves, A Simple Plan, My Cousin Vinny . . . pretty much any movie you’ve ever liked.
Peter Tomala (Producer) Rounding out our initial crew list is BEAU producer and local radio personality, Peter Tomala.
It was easy for us to decide on our venue for a fundraising platform because Kickstarter is known for providing a platform for new, unique and engaging ideas.
We are participating in OUYA's #FreeTheGames Fund, created by OUYA to support developers making new and creative console games. Risks and challenges
Aside from a mass burning of giant marshmallows and attack cabinets, we are well prepared to make this game a reality.
There are risks with any new project but we've been working as a team on the pre-production of this game for almost a year. During this time, we've already created an efficient workflow process and are well positioned with our game assets.
