I am so excited for you to hear the music I've been working on this past year. This project showcases tunes inspired by people very close to me as well as people I've met on the road. Most of these tunes were written in the wee small hours of the morning when that was the only time I could make any music, or in my car on a long road trip. Getting past the hurdle of "Should I make another record of jazz tunes" to "I am going to make a record of original songs" was a process—I have come to realize that if I write about what I know and try to keep it simple, it can go a long way. It's an important project to me artistically because it shows another side to my composing, singing, and musicianship. I have been working on all of these things over the past few years and this is a complete product of that. I hope you will hear the sincerity behind these pieces and the through-composed intention that was behind each and every tune and hopefully, these tunes will haunt you, in a good way.

Risks and challenges
Starting a project of this magnitude without funding was a giant leap of faith. I am so lucky to have been working with people who have generously given their time in advance of payment to make this record possible, however they need compensation for their work, and your help will allow me to pay for the labor that has already gone into this project. Being unable to pay all who have worked on this project with me in a timely manner could postpone completion of the project. That's why we really need your support! Our goal of $8,000 and every dollar raised above will make it possible for me to share this music which is so close to my heart.
The album needs to be mixed, requiring additional studio time at studio Nels. Charlie Smith (producer and engineer) and I would also like to do a special mix on the acoustic vocal portion of the record. We would like to use Avast studios in Seattle. Releasing this project on time could very well depend on the availability at Studio Nels and Avast.
We are outsourcing both the mastering and the graphic design. The back and fourth of this type of correspondence and the time it takes to approve proofs via email and hard audio may alter the timeline. It is also possible that an error could occur on the first pressing of the vinyl and cd's that we weren't able to spot on proofs exchanged over email. This could cause a delay of 2-3 weeks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
