So, how are people finding the different Quests in co-op mode?

My friend and I have tried the first two so far. Quest 1 didn't seem too bad, but we only finished Quest 2 by the skin of our teeth -- if we hadn't had a lucky attack roll at the end, the Cave Serpent would probably have finished us off. (Maybe we should have prepared better before summoning it.)

I feel like we should gather a larger group before attempting Quest 3. It seems to me that the game could be difficult if only one hero is free to fight at the beginning (because the other is carrying the head).

We also haven't included the human heroes in the Seek Glory deck yet. I imagine one of them showing up at the wrong time could really make things tough.

Anyone tried the later quests yet?

      Hi @Luke Allport
Yes, they are a little oversized I unfortunately missed that when it went off to print. I did have a chat with FatCat Gaming and they have created soem really nice tokens that do fit the trackers in acrylic, or you could proxy any small gems or beads I won't suggest teef although we are all thinking it...

Here is the link to the acrylic tokens if you are interested: http://fatcatgaming.co.uk/product/ravage-dungeons-of-plunder-official-upgrade-tokens/

    7. Luke Allport on May 4

Is it just me or do the tokens not fit on the trackers? Each token is much bigger than the XP, Energy and Teef counter which means if they are all in a line they all overlap eachother?

      Hi @Jefepato
Thank you for those questions I have sent you a pm with the answers to those. I have been making notes for changes to apply to the rules for clarifications, which won't be for at least a couple of weeks. But your help is much appreciated.

      Okay, a few more questions:
      - Just to be clear, once you've leveled up a skill, you can't use the lower level version anymore even if you'd prefer to? (Honestly, as the Shaman in Treachery mode, I found Spiritual Shield quite preferable to Shape Shift - Feral Bear.)
      - If the Entangling Roots monster buffs all monsters within 2 tiles of itself, does that include itself?
      - If there are three or more Skeleton Warriors on the board in Treachery mode, but they aren't owned by the same player, do they all still buff each other?
      - Does a harpy's Captivating Song in Treachery mode still move the player who controls the harpy?
      - If I reveal a Spiderling in Treachery mode, does it essentially become one of my monsters, or does it still use the standard Spiderling rules? (It looks like the 1.2 rules clarified these guys -- we hadn't realized before that Spiderlings don't move at all unless someone is in range.)
      - When the Cultist summons undead, is his summon random or does he choose which undead to summon?
      - Since summoned undead have their own monster track, what do those monsters do when the summoned undead dies?
      - Some of the items that give you an extra defensive die say you can only have one such effect. Does that limit only apply to the items that specifically say so, or it is only possible to have one defense buff of any sort at a time? (For example, could the Shaman have both a Spiritual Shield die and one of the items that adds a defense die?)
      - Does Blood Wield work on bosses?
      - The level 1 version of Blood Wield says that the monster "defects to your monster track" afterward (I take this to mean that it aggros on you), and that you receive all energy rolled by the enemy. The level 2 version doesn't say either of these; do either or both still apply?
      - Can Spiderlings be killed by Hidden Pressure Plates?
      - When the Cave Serpent pushes a target back "1 card," how is movement determined? If there isn't an exit to another card in the appropriate general direction, does the hero just end up at the edge of their current card?
      - If the Shaman casts a level 2 Spiritual Shield to benefit himself and his adjacent allies, and then dies in the following Bloodshed phase, do his allies still have the benefit (until his next turn begins)?
      - When an egg token has been removed from the board (either because it was nothing, or because the spiderling was killed), does it get mixed back in with the pile of egg tokens, or removed from the game entirely until you run out?

      Hi @Jefepato
That mode tends to work better with 3 or more players and yes it can be a long game. You could dial back the starting health for each hero to make it a quicker game.

Just tried Treachery mode earlier. I'm going to have a number of additional rules questions once I get the chance to type up my scribbled notes (although I'll check the 1.2 rulebook first in case it answers any of them -- we didn't have time to print a copy before game night), but I do have one major concern right now: the game seems to take quite a while. We played a 2-player Treachery game for about an hour and only had one player killed. (The Cultist draining life from monsters probably kept him alive longer than expected.)

They are on pg9 under the bloodshed phase, that might sit better under the hero death section.

      @Ian

Well, of course if my friends try to harvest the monsters for teef, the monsters will change aggro as soon as someone else deals them damage.

I'm not sure what you mean about Attacks of Opportunity in this case, though. If I'm dead, "my" monsters have no reason to move during my Bloodshed phase -- and as far as I understand the rules, Attacks of Opportunity only happen when a monster is about to move through a Hero's tile.

Your comment sounds as if idle monsters should be taking AoOs against other heroes that happen to be in range of their attacks, but I don't see that in the rules at all (neither on pages 8-9 for the Bloodshed phase, nor in the Appendix under Attacks of Opportunity).

    19. Drunkien Pigge on April 26

Any way to get a tracking #? I haven't received an email yet.

    20. Ian Schofield 2-time creator on April 26

      Hi @Jefepato

You continue to run your Bloodshed phase while dead however, the monsters will only attack using Attack of Opportunity (if other heroes are adjacent or for ranged creatures in range).

They start to move toward you again on the turn you spawn.

They certainly won't stand on the spot while your friends harvest them for teef 8-)

One more odd question: if someone remains dead, do the monsters aggro'd on them find someone else to attack, or just stand idle until they resurrect (or until another player damages them and draws aggro)?

I was thinking it wouldn't be an issue usually, but if a player could potentially be out of play for multiple turns (if the only resurrection circle happens to be blocked), it seems a little odd that their monsters would just wait around.

    22. Ian Schofield 2-time creator on April 26

      Hi @Jefepato
Let me try and answer those for you:

      How do you gain XP
      A) This is in the appendix on pg19 “Energy and Experience”

      - Does being on a trap when it's placed count as 'passing over' it for purposes of triggering it?
      A) No, in the case of an Unstable Pit Trap - You place the tile and it didn’t trigger but will trigger when someone passes it now its in play.

      - During the Bloodshed phase, do monsters move as far as possible toward the player even if they're ranged attackers, or do they stop when they're close enough to shoot?
      A) They will move enough to be in range and not the full movement.

      - If a player or monster is standing on top of the only resurrection circle available, can a dead player still revive?
      A) He would need to wait until the following turn and the resurrection circle is available

      - If you can't Delve because there aren't any open/unblocked arrows on your current or adjacent cards, do you skip Seeking Glory?
      A) You skip the Seek Glory phase

      - When you do Delve, does the new dungeon card have to be placed on one of the arrows near you? (One of us kept wanting to build the dungeon out further away without actually proceeding through it.)
      A) Yes on your current card or an adjacent one.

      - For purposes of Quest 1, what counts as escaping the dungeon? Do you just have to return to the starting point?
      A) You all have to get back to the start tile, Once your hero escapes only activate his bloodshed phase on his turn they will continue to chase you to the exit.

      - Is the Berserker supposed to have a skill card called "Axe," which is among the recommended choices in the manual? Or should that be "Hand Axe?"
      A) That should be Hand Axe

      - If the Head Hunter adds Poison tokens to his bow or knife, how do they actually work? We were just kind of assuming that one of the poison tokens transferred to a monster each time he successfully damaged the monster with that weapon, but I couldn't find anything in the rules.
      A) Yes exactly if you successfully hit a monster they become poisoned.

      - Are plunder tokens removed from the game when obtained, or do you eventually reshuffle them when you run out? (Is there some purposes to having 2 separate piles of plunder tokens during setup?)
      A) If you are running low then yes shuffle them back into the pile.
I always found 1 pile fell over so always piled them in stacks of 2, a nice dive bag to put them in a draw them randomly is best 8-)

      - Do all the characters have the same number of skill cards? Based on the component list in the manual they should; I think I may have been missing one.
      A) Yes they should each have 7 cards each

I have been working on the rules for the last couple of days and incorporating all questions I have been getting about the rules so a new Rules 1.2 should be ready in the next few days.

I will issue an update to let everyone know when they are available.

I tried this game with a friend on Sunday, and we have a few questions:
      - We couldn't find anything in the rulebook about how one gains XP. Do you gain XP equal to the level of the monster you kill or something?
      - Does being on a trap when it's placed count as 'passing over' it for purposes of triggering it?
      - During the Bloodshed phase, do monsters move as far as possible toward the player even if they're ranged attackers, or do they stop when they're close enough to shoot?
      - If a player or monster is standing on top of the only resurrection circle available, can a dead player still revive?

      - Do all the characters have the same number of skill cards? Based on the component list in the manual they should; I think I may have been missing one.
      - We had some bad luck with encountering tough monsters early, but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.

...I think we had a question about Frenzy as well (it seemed oddly ineffective, but I think we may have been misunderstanding the combat rules at first), but I don't have time to dig out the game and reread the actual cards.

I guess there's a 1.1 version of the manual up, so maybe some of these issues have been cleared up already?

I was playing the solo with the headhunter and ran into a spider. I was worried about the poison I had from the first attack but I didn't have long to wait because it killed me with the second attack. Reset and try again!
