Zero's Heroes is a webcomic about a group of underdog superheroes and has been running weekly at www.newhavencomics.com for over 3 years. The four of us working on the comic have all been doing in our spare time, working around our day jobs and families. It's now come time to print the first collection into a trade paperback so we can take it to comic book conventions and get ourselves out there even further. It's been a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.
The money we're asking for is just to cover printing costs of the first book. We want to keep making comics because we love comics, and we'd like to be able to take our comic to comic conventions because we also love comic fans!
The comic is a fun, all ages look at superheroes. In the city of New Haven, Zero and his teammates, Quickspeed, Blizzard Boy, Ghost, Mr. Invincible, Powerline, and Wreck-Lass are the lowest heroes on the totem pole. But Zero is driven by mysterious reasons to train his team to be the best in the city. Most of the time they fight equally lame villains, but there appears to be some nefarious characters who seem well aware of what Zero is trying to accomplish and want to stop him.
We've put together a nice little collection of swag for our fans and supporters. Stickers, buttons, art prints, a t-shirt, and even original art.
Chris McJunkin is also doing sketch covers for the 28 page convention special. If you would like a custom sketch of a character of your choosing, just add $15 to any pledge that comes with the print copy of the convention special.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk to making a comic is always making a comic that other people want to read. We are well aware that there are plenty of other superhero comics out there, but we love superheroes just as much as they do. We'd like to think we can provide a unique reading experience that generally isn't offered anywhere else. This comic is already produced and will be sent off to the printers as soon as we reach our goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
