Tunneller Test Shots and Forge Father Tanks Shipping!

In this update: Forge Father Tanks are shipping, shipping times for the Tunnel Runner and Hultr and Plastic Tunneller images!

Hi Backers!

So it’s been a busy couple of weeks here at Mantic – here’s an update on how things are progressing.

First and foremost – Forge Father Tanks have left the building. We’ve dispatched over a thousand of these to backers over the last few days – they should be arriving with you in the next couple of weeks.

In order to keep the number of parcels you’ll be receiving as low as possible, we are groups the pledges by which vehicles were ordered. If you have ordered a Forge Father Tank, but not a Hultr Half Track, Veer-Myn Tunneller or Tunnel Runner, then your tanks have now been shipped, which brings us to our next point.

The production of the Hultr Half Track and Tunnel Runners is almost complete – slightly later than we’d aimed for as they will finish next week. We will be flying these into the country to ship, which will take a further week. So, we will be sending the next batch of pledges; those with either a Forge Father Tank, Hultr or Tunnel Runner (but not a Tunneller) from the middle of June.

If you have any issues with your pledges, please don’t hesitate to contact us at support@manticgames.com.

Finally, we have received the test shots for the Hard Plastic Tunneller. Our Studio Manager is going over them and giving feedback, but as you can see from the images below, the kit looks awesome!

You can assemble the kit with either open or closed doors, add a choice of three different weapons options and even move the drills from open to closed (and back)! You can also attach up to three sections together to add a larger transport capacity for your rats and the sections have a variety of interchangeable panels so that no two need look the same on a longer vehicle.

As these have come out well, we’ll be signing off on production for these once corrections have been made. After that, they’ll be shipped off with the remainder of the orders containing the other vehicles and this one, as soon as we can.

This of course, leaves the bigger question of whether or not we’ll use this new company to tool the remaining vehicles (Asterian Chira/Chroma, GCPS/Plague Hornet, GCPS/Plague Mule). As you can see from the Tunneller, things look very promising. We’ll be discussing this next week, after which we’ll let you know the plan going forward.

As always, thank you for your patience.

The Mantic Team.

I've opened, test assembled (but not glued) both the Forge Father tank and the Enforcer aircraft now - both models are excellent, and I look forward to getting the rest of the vehicles.

Two complaints, none of them big:

      1) It was a bit hard to figure out where some pieces where supposed to go.

      2) The changes between some of the options are too big, making magnetising to transform between certain options hard or impossible. (for instance, I can choose APC or NOT APC)

Do a channel search on YouTube... Look for a channel called Dreadpathzone. He shows a unboxing and simple assembly of the forge father tank. If you need help with it.

Please disregard my last question. The shipment was Walking Dead figures.

If I understand this correctly, those orders which include a Forge Father Tank, Hultr, and or Tunnel Runner , but not a Tunneler are being shipped now. I ordered all four and received word my shipment will be hear tomorrw. Am I misunderstanding something?

      @mantic
Great news. Perhaps some online assembly instructions are in order?

Oops! That was my fault - I just glued the drill heads on the wrong way around on one of the samples. Not a manufacturing problem, just me :-P. I've corrected them now. They are correct on the image of the one with the gun.

Thank you for the answer on materials, Matt. Have any other vehicle kits from other game companies been done in the same material by the same manufacturer that you can point me to so I can have a look?

I'd hope the rock drill prototype is simply assembled incorrectly by the guys in the factory and can be assembled either way. Rock drills would normally point inwards from what I can find via some searching. Can anyone from Mantic confirm?

@matthew. It does look different the concept sketch. Perhaps there was a problem with that conceptsketch that didn't translate to model?
However if you look at the weapon deployed pic, it's obvious where the hinge points are. So they maybe able to be pointed inward still, they just didn't do that for the pic.

Has no one else noticed that the drill heads point out, when closed, in this model compared to the original... Was that intentional, or a mistake that's too late to correct (I'm guessing its too late to correct anything now!)?

I regret not ordering more vehicles!

Wow. I was thrilled with the concept art and this has really done it justice.

Got to get painting some ratties soon to trundle around in them!

      Those look awesome. Just spectacular.
Vehicle kits are by far the hardest models to tool and produce. Which is why so many companies refuse to do them.
Adding extra panels to the tunneler kit is a great little add. That's just topnotch planning. Way to go the extra mile.

The new company has done a great job on that tunneler, hopefully they can do the rest of them

    14. Matt Gilbert on

We aren't switching companies because the old one did a bad job. Far from it, we've worked with them and had got to a very good place and the forge father tanks are excellent. However, circumstances meant they couldn't do any more vehicles for us which is why we had to find a new partner for the other ones.

The Tunnel Runners and Hultr are in PVC. The same as the recent walking dead plastics.

Is it me or are the closed drill heads 'wrong'...

"the bigger question of whether or not we’ll use this new company to tool the remaining vehicles" Did this "new" Company also do the Forge Father Tanks? I am now concerned that the "old" Company did a poor job and I will be getting an inferior product :(

What material(s) are the final production versions of the Hultr Half Track and Tunnel Runners made from?

Will we get a tracking number? I am a little nervous after the shipping company lied about attempted deliveries and just refused to actually deliver last time...
