About this project
Set in Mantic’s Warpath Universe, Star Saga: The Eiras Contract is a science fiction dungeon crawler for 1-5 players, with optional rules for solo play.
Featuring strong story-telling elements and immersive game scenarios, Star Saga: The Eiras Contract will see players guide a team of mercenaries on a mission to retrieve stolen technology from a highly guarded research facility deep beneath the surface of the planet Eiras.
In Star Saga you’ll take on platoons of minions and powerful alien bosses, and quickly discover there’s more to your mission than a simple case of corporate espionage. As the game unfolds you’ll be forced to make difficult decisions to stay alive as the story takes unexpected twists and turns.
What is Star Saga?
Star Saga is the successor to 2014’s Dungeon Saga, praised for its simple core mechanics that provided a perfect opening for new players. Star Saga will introduce refined and more streamlined rules, and feature both ‘learn-as-you-go’ gameplay for novice adventurers and more advanced mechanics for seasoned gamers.
With completely new solo gameplay and deeper narrative elements, Star Saga delivers a true RPG dungeon crawler experience… in the depths of a subterranean base on a far-off alien world!
Further campaigns and expansions will utilize the full scope of science fiction settings, from space stations and starships to alien landscapes and beyond.
Star Saga uses classic dungeon crawler mechanics: players move their characters through the environment, opening doors, picking up loot, and revealing more of the board as the game progresses. Combat is resolved with a simple system of opposed dice rolls, while player statistics, abilities and special rules are all laid out on wonderfully designed game cards, allowing most players to learn the game as they play.
• 1-5 Players: Control all the Mercenaries yourself, or team-up to complete your mission co-operatively and take down the mastermind behind the facility on Eiras!
• Solo Play: Newly developed solo play rules allow the game itself to take the role of the villain with simple card-based AI.
• Ready to Play: Star Saga will include all the pre-assembled miniatures you’ll need to start playing right away. You’ll get all the necessary game cards, tiles and components for the complete dungeon crawler experience in one box.
• Advanced Rules: Newly refined advanced rules will provide everything that the veteran-gamer needs – campaigns, experience, character creation, mission creation, and more.
• High Quality Figures & Packaging: The core pledge includes 54 highly detailed miniatures molded from premium plastic, with thick, high-quality double-sided tiles and counters. Packaged in a vacu-formed plastic tray to hold your figures firmly in place. For an example of component quality and how this game will be packaged and presented, see The Walking Dead: All Out War box opening here.

MEET THE MERCS
Captain Erika Dulinsky: Former Captain for the Reiker Corporation. The exact circumstances of her dismissal from Reiker are unclear - her records remain classified. Whatever the case, her leadership and tactical experience put her in high demand among military freelancers, while her courage under fire make her an invaluable teammate.
Combat Utility Robot B07153: Designed as modular support, Combat Utility Robots have limited conversational skills and are almost exclusively task-oriented. That said, behavioral ‘quirks’ have been reported among older or battle-damaged units. ‘Curby’ is one such unit.
Francesco ‘The Devil’ Selvaggio: Soldier-for-hire with a predilection for close combat knife-work and demolitions. Selvaggio earned his nickname, ‘The Devil’, for his part in the fire-bombing campaign that laid waste to an entire planet. ‘The Devil’ has since made his way through the universe working for anyone with the credits to pay for his services, be they rebels, corporate snatch teams, or worse.
Wrath: The only Judwan ever recorded as being capable of violence. Subjected to an arduous ‘training’ program and fashioned into a killer at a young age, he is now one of the most wanted beings in the galaxy, always seeking the truth behind what was done to him... and revenge.
Alyse: Like so many of her race, the Kayowa, Alyse has lived much of her life in the shadows. Recruited as a young adult into the Rigel Syndicate, one of the most notorious blade gangs in the Third Sphere, Alyse quickly became an expert thief and a formidable fighter, freely using her ability to drain the lifeforce of her opponents and use it to heal her wounds and those of her comrades.
Ogan Helkkare: Ogan Helkkare is a rare thing in a vast galaxy: a Forge Father who has made his home within the GCPS. From his workshops on the world of Gelgar II, Helkkare has made a living using his hands and his mind to engineer everything from weapons engine parts. Ogan would gladly return to life aboard a Ward ship but he cannot, for he is an exile, spurned by his clan.
MEET YOUR ENEMIES
Doctor Lucas Koyner: Koyner is the head of research at one of the corporation’s most clandestine advanced science facilities. Within its warren of laboratories, Koyner works on his own sinister experiments.
Organic Data Storage Unit X-02-A: The Chovar called ‘X-02-A’ has lost practically everything. Its psychic link has been suppressed, and electric shackles hold it immobile. It is a thing of rage and pain, a witness to innumerable horrors perpetrated by its captors.
Guard Commander Graves: In charge of security, Graves is a true soldier who does as he's told, but also longs for the heat of battle. He relishes the prospect of one day someone being foolish enough to try to get past him and his troops.
Enforcer ES435, Codename 'Monarch': Admittance to ESOC, the special operations branch of the Enforcer Corps, is strictly by invitation only. All Enforcers have already proven their abilities in combat and willingness to prosecute the will of the Council of Seven. ESOC operators must able to go even further. Monarch’s record is exemplary in this regard, having successfully completed many undercover missions, none of which were ever traced back to the Council of Seven.
Shipping for the core pledge will be charged when you select a reward from the bar on the right. The core pledge will ship in a single package via Royal Mail, and will ship from the UK.
All add-ons outside the core pledge (which will be detailed in the updates if applicable) will ship in a separate package at a later date, and shipping for these will be charged in the pledge manager after the campaign has finished. These packages will be shipped by Royal Mail if possible, or by courier, depending on the size and weight of items selected.

Risks and challenges
There are a number of risks with any Kickstarter project, especially getting accurate timings for such complex products with so many components.
With this project, the design and writing is nearly complete and we fully expect to be shipping in October 2017 - however, the exact timing is impossible to predict. We will of course keep our backers up to date as best we can!
To date, we’ve successfully fulfilled 9 Kickstarter campaigns: Kings of War, DreadBall, LOKA, Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Game, the Deadzone, DreadBall Xtreme, Dungeon Saga, Kings of War 2nd Edition and Deadzone: Infestation.
We begin shipping our Walking Dead: All Out War and Warpath Kickstarters imminently.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Within a few weeks of the Kickstarter closing we will send you an invitation via email to the Star Saga pledge manager.
On the pledge manager you will fill out your address and contact details, which pledge level you want and what add-ons you wanted (if any). You can even choose more items than you initially pledged for on the Kickstarter and pay the difference on the pledge manager, including any additional shipping charges that may be incurred.
Yes. You must fill out the pledge manager.
If you do not fill out the pledge manager we will not have your address, and you will not get your pledge level during the Wave 1 shipment. We will not be able to guarantee that we will have enough stock to supply your full pledge.
You will receive a confirmation email when you successfully check out from the pledge manager, and can check your order by clicking ‘My Orders’ on the pledge manager.
If you do not receive a confirmation email and/or there are no orders on your account then you have not successfully completed the pledge manager.
If you pledge on this Kickstarter, payment will be taken at 11:59 GMT Saturday October 21, the same time the project ends. If payment is unsuccessful you will have 14 days to correct your payment details before Kickstarter cancels your pledge.
Because payment is not taken until the campaign closes, you may change your pledge amount as many times as you like during the campaign. Just click ‘Manage my Pledge’ and you can make alterations.
When will my pledge ship? Where will my package be shipped from? What shipping method will be used? What value will be declared on the package?
We estimate that Wave 1 shipping will begin in October 2017.
Wave 1 packages will be sent from the UK using local post, such as Royal Mail.
The customs form on your package will represent our costs for providing the pledge. The cost of shipping will not be included in the value marked on the customs form. The package will also be marked as a gift. Please check with your local customs office for any charges that may apply to your shipment as you will be responsible for these.
Star Saga is only available in English during the Kickstarter.
What size are the miniatures? What material are the miniatures made from? Do the miniatures come painted?
The miniatures are 30mm scale, with the average adult character standing approximately 1.3 inches tall.
The miniatures are single-piece and no assembly is required. They are made from a highly detailed, durable plastic. The material is a type of PVC commonly used in our games such as The Walking Dead: All Out War, as well as games by other manufacturers such as Wrath of Kings and more.
This plastic allows us to have a high level of detail while keeping the dynamic poses required for such a fast-paced game, and of course making them as affordable as you would expect from Mantic.
Note that this material is not the harder PVC commonly known as “restic”, and is not sprued “hard plastic” (polystyrene).
Your miniatures do not come painted – the miniatures shown in the photography are for promotional purposes only. Miniatures are supplied in coloured plastic - a different colour for each of Mercenaries, Bosses and Minions.
Here at Mantic we don't want to release figures through Kickstarter that will then penalize customers who miss out on the campaign. However, we do want to keep our Kickstarter exclusives a little bit special. Therefore, although our Kickstarter exclusives will never be sold at retail, they may be available later via the Mantic Points Scheme on our website, or offered as promotional figures at conventions or other events.
Simply message us through Kickstarter using the link at the top of the page, and we'll put you in touch with our trade team who can run through what's available and how to pledge!
You can select as many as you like - just increase your pledge as appropriate. For example, if you're at the Core Pledge reward ($100) and want a second one, just pledge a total of $200 - you can tell us that this is what you want at the end through the campaign manager.
If you're at an Early Bird level, then any additional reward levels of the same type will be at the same cost, so if your first one is costing you $90, then the second one will cost the same price!
Shipping is to be paid for each reward level, as each one needs to be sent as a separate package due to shipping restrictions. For example, if you want two copies of the Core Pledge reward, you would have to pay the shipping twice.
