      @ mantic

No that makes a caricature of a humanoid and While I can leave you with a slightly bigger head, the legs must be functional.

I say GW's horrible aesthetics have dominated the wargame scene for too long, break the mold and make functional dwarf anatomy.

    2. Mantic Games 17-time creator on

@iDog - We might have a sketch you'll enjoy, keep an eye on the updates :)
@John - I imagine you could paint it either way, but being a sensible Rebel Commander I'd say she'd be wearing armour!
@Daniel - We're trying to keep the "homage" figures to a minimum and instead come up with characters that build on the Deadzone universe. We do still make the occasional subtle nod to famous characters, though!
@Vermonter - I just asked everyone and got blank looks all round. No one's heard of that!

Lots of comments about changing Freya's proportions - big heads and small legs are what make a Forge Father! (Still, comments taken on board. We'll pass those along.)

Maybe needs a double handed power axe strapped to her back to give her a bit more presence.

Nice to see some sensible shoes on a female character.

    5. Grant Scullard on

Veer myn would be good. A 6x4 secret weapon would be nice too.

    6. Craig Johnson on

Lets hurry up and lock in the FF booster so I can go against my better judgement and increase my pledge over $500.

How about a Veer-myn mercenary? Maybe a techie rat with some nifty gizmos? Rat drones!

The scuttlebutt on the grapevine is that that scuttlebutt means a rumor or gossip. The scuttlebutt used to be a container of potable water passed around periodically to the crew as part of their daily rations. It is the old nautical equivalent of an office water cooler.

Freya looks cool, but her head's too big. If you scale it back a bit she would look heaps better

I'm wondering how many know what a scuttlebutt is?

    11. Luke Howell-Williams on

@Vermonter- That's all just scuttlebutt at the moment, I'm afraid...

    12. New Hampshirizer on

Is it true that the "swarm"-looking Asterian model is going to be named "Scuttlebutt"? I don't think that really fits the whole decadent, high tech race angle.

    13. David Lee Seymour on

Kal, its a link labeled "optimal loadout" or something to that extent of goodlness =)

Is it just me or is the "Strike Team" level graphic missing? Says see graphic at top of page, but all I see is recon level

    16. Luke Howell-Williams on

"goblin demolition expert" see mantic, it's not just me! Mostly, but not solely me. ;-)

      Female goblin demolition expert! go!

    18. Nick Johnson on

      Oh yeah, and the Mech.

    19. Nick Johnson on

Any chance of seeing a Marauder special character? Maybe a space pirate, or a big game hunter.

KICKSTARTER!!!!! (Shakes Fist) I must have it alllll!!

    21. consectari on

Hope the mining laser, bikes, and demolition drones will be available as separate add ons. Please don't make me buy boosters just to get more of those.

    22. Luke Howell-Williams on

Woohoo! We're coming to save you Freya, you'll be out of that carbonite wall decoration in no time!!! :)

@Mantic- I'd certainly like to see a few more mercs too! [Especially pointy nosed ones, with explosives and a greenish hue. ;)]

    23. Etienne on

I also love the named mercenaries you have introduced. A Mercenary bundle add-on (INCLUDING the ones that seem to be only in the Strike Team pledge) would be grand!

    24. Daniel Cassidy

      on

@ highlord I was just thinking the samething the other day we could play a merc faction with all our mercs its like were getting two free factions in strike team
this is probly way to late in the game hehe pun :( ok im sorry but too other KS i followed that had a merc element were through some voodoo able to get the rights to do models of the firefly tv series and movie calamity crew its western meets sci fi well how about its western met sci fi and then mantic kicked it up a gear.
@ mantic so what you think, any chance of this. By the way kicking myself for not asking sooner

I have a question for Mantic, if someone could solve a disagreement I have with a friend: this forgefather/sister clearly is fully armored. However, the Rebel commander - does she have a midriff on? That is, is any portion of that belly meant to be painted flesh color, or is that meant to be armor all the way down?

    26. Missing avatar

      iDog on

This is not the sort of thing I'm usually into but I'm into it. One of the Mantic commenters mentioned they'd proposed putting some sort of alien pet on her shoulder. I hope something like that gets added.

    27. Joe on

      Oof. That Down Syn-da-rome girl!

    28. New Hampshirizer on

Well, well, well - that concept sketch for a female Forge father turned out a LOT better than I thought it would. Hats off to the artist - I really was expecting something Wagnerian and stupid.
Mantic, you continue to impress. Now make sure the sculpt stays true to concept!

    29. Michele Maritan on

I agree with Psychotic Storm, excellent face, excellent outfit but either slim a little bit or stretch a little bit the lower legs. Maybe heels a little bit longer?

    30. Leo Sebastiano on

Dead space + ugly Betty = female dwarf.

    31. BlasterCA on

I've said it before & I'm gonna keep saying it; Not enough new Stretch Goals for us to reach for, dream about & generally stretch our finances to try to achieve! Need at least one more. 2 or 3 would be great. & if you guys are goin offline again to sleep, then let us see what is over the $1m rainbow.

    32. Eric Carroll on

i dig her triple barrel pistol. thanks for sculpting another strong female character. I can already see my stepdaughter playing with the rebel commander, Nastanza, Freya, (a home ruled playable) doc Simmons, and a bunch of aliens she will insist I paint pink and purple.

    33. john Ross on

    38. Emery Calame on
