Cool update. I'm looking forward to the scenarios gameplay. Sounds very interesting.
Awesome, Awesome,Awesome.. I Love You Guys - Mean It!!
you guys probably uploaded the wrong video, its talking about faction decks instead. still very interesting tho, can't wait to see more!
I hope we get about a billion more backers. That would be several scenarios to keep us busy a long time... poor Jake though.
Is there any chance of getting the Nexus Psi Digital Campaign in print form? Maybe as an optional add on? I am pretty old school when it comes to books. I prefer paper in my hand...
@ Bill - we've got something up our sleeves regarding a printed Nexus Psi campaign :)
@ Zexious - you're right! Now fixed.
I heard in the video that 10 sides were too many and 6 were not enough. But would the d10 not allow you to build bigger in the future also? or maybe d20's to allow super-fantastic fine tuning?
I also saw on the forum, that the your supplier for dice could not custom make d8's, Custom dice for this game would be REALLY nice KS add-on imho.
Like how this is progressing though and hope I may chat to you tomorrow at The Foundry over a coffee, biscuit and a demo game of GoB. :D
Can a stretch goal be acrylic counters
Read the rules! Love it! Sounds absolutely fantastic. fantastic. This is going to be amazing.
@ Ironclad - the d8s also have other uses. The board is 8 squares by 8 squares, which helps should we need terrain placement rules. Furthermore, it helps with scatter as if you put a model in the model of the model, there are 8 squares surrounding it.
8 just happens to be the perfect number for us!
But none of that matters when I NEED my custom DZ dice, hehe. :)
Ok, i'll have to trawl the t'interwebz of DOOOOOM... :(
So this weekend i shall be in the corner building the board for this !!!! moo hahahahahahaahha ... as if the mission of building a cowboy town was not enough !!!!
so will be robogear minis for the enforcers and the old i-kore koralon minis for the infected i think :)
Great adaptation of the dreadball mechanic, ball scattering in dreadball works perfect so in Deadzone it will be even faster!
I expect to have a +2 Melee and very nice armor with the 1 Gen Plague!
Loving the rules. I also have to commend you guys for making a "true" LOS system that seems to work quite well. Decoupling cover from visible/artificial model volume (or any other balancers used in most TLOS systems) and making it a factor of the occupied square was a good idea. That leaves you guys free to have the binary state of having a 'clear shot' as its own thing.
The dice-rolling system also looks great (a Dreadball thing it would seem). Dice pools seem like a good fit for skirmish games and it gives some great variance without falling in to being another flat probability system.
Can't wait to give it all a play.
Nice that you decided to work with SWM ^_^ , about the rules so far i love how you adapt everything that dreadball's system have, but there is one thing that i think is off :
Clear shot : For example if i can see the whole mini except for a fit or even a little part of the base, i don't have a clear shot. Maybe if the base is removed as part of the equation in both LOS cases ( normal and clear ) it will be more situations where you have clear shots and less when you have normal shots. Maybe i'm totally wrong since this has a different system of movement but it looks a little extreme.
Also can you give us some kind of basic pdf with the mat ? ( not the image of course but the square sizes )
As a guy who designs game systems for fun, I love to see the detail behind your design choices for this game.
However, please get us a video showing an overview of actual gameplay before any more explanation videos. As fascinating as they are, we still can't picture how the game works. Got to get the WHAT settled before moving on to the WHY. Thanks.
@Alejandro - you obviously didn't read the rules very close. It states to post your comments on the rules over at Quirkworthy. Reread the appropriate section and your question will be answered as A Clear Shot is a rarity in the game.
I hope that there will be non-faction-specific scenarios, as I won't plan to get Enforcers and Plague models (not my taste, and I want to play rebs while my brother play orx). Thanks for confirmation in advance!
Nice work guys, cool mini stretch. :-)
Sure you can get custom D8's, FFG's Star Wars X-Wing game has them.
FFG is a far bigger company than Mantic though, and I expect they are able to order enough at one time as to make it cost effective, also FFG use various 'special' dice in all there games - which I may add are FAR more expensive than most competitors. Yes its possible is it cost effective is the real question.
They didn't say custom D8's were impossible. They said it was impossible to get them done in the quantities they needed, from their usual manufacturer in the time-scale they have for this project. So they could do them, but it would actually delay production of the initial wave. So probably not worth it right now.
Rules look solid. Glad I'm a big Dust player, I can pretty much proxy everything including the board pretty well. Allied armor 3 soldiers as Enforcers, Axis Gorillas as the big Plague and Ubertoten zombies as the smaller plague. I have a ton of squared tiles, slightly bigger than 3", but still should work for proxy
@Scott Yes, i'll read it afterwards and post it there, thanks for the info :)
Re custom D8s. I've not played X-wing. Are these printed or etched? Printed we can source, it's etched we want though. Printed faces on dice always wear off :(
@Tamas - missions will be specific to the faction that is doing them and independent of the opponent. This means that you get characterful missions that apply to the faction you choose to collect.
FFG dice are in my experienced etched, but I do not know where they come from just they seem to be producing custom dice for a massive number of systems/games.
Q Workshop can do them for you: http://q-workshop.com/help_more.php…
You actually used the phrase "But that's not all." In bold type, no less!
I dream of being able to use that line in real life someday.
