What is Art Map
Art Map is an art events listing website, that lists private views, screenings, book launches, performances and any events which happen in London art spaces. It is free of charge to use.
Art Map became more popular than I could have anticipated, and has now outgrown its current humble website beginnings. Art Map now has the potential to become a central London art and gallery hub.
How will the money be used
The funds will be used to put into place and develop the new Art Map London website that in addition to the map and events list, will also feature a photo diary of the art events, and a gallery directory allowing people to search galleries and museums not just by current shows but by artists they represent.
Artists
Cassandra Yap
Cassandra is an artist and printer based in London her work is at the cross road of symbolism and 50’s pin up, her prints are dark and kinky with a humorous finish. Her work has been featured in a number of exhibitions including: Print Club Blisters Blackout ’10 & Blisters The Directors Cut '12, 3939 Shop pop up gallery at the Shop At Bluebird, LHR's ‘A is for…?’ at the Hanbury Arms, The London Illustration Fair & Dalston Superstore. Her commissions and collaborations include: Wonderland Magazine fashion story with photographer Jez Tozer, bespoke screen prints for East London Baker Lily Vanilli, British Jeweller Bobby White London and Dalston Screentests for Dalston Superstore. Limited edition T-shirt designs for Moussy Tokyo, Lui's Menswear Tokyo.
Adam Slatter
Adam studied illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. His paintings are big in scale and possess expressive colourful backgrounds reminiscent of Basquiat. Recently Adam has started exploring monoprint as the best medium for realising instant, quirky and sometimes monstrous characters such as Brian the Blessed.
Guy Haddon Grant
Trained in Florence and London the sculptor Guy Haddon is already heralded as the ‘new Rodin’. His most famous work is a series of torsos in mid-air, their arms and hands frozen is movement. From the front it resembles the multi armed goddess Durga, from the sides a study of movement in stills.
Lara Thomson
Lara graduated from Wimbledon college of arts in 2013 and has immersed herself into the world of illustration and monsters experimenting with murals, story telling (The Curious Case of James Stephen George Boggs) and helping create the visual identity of Croydon Film Festival. The worlds she creates are reminiscent of Tim Burton's art style, and her steady hand, confident line, attention to detail and texture bring to mind the works of Audrey Beardsley. Not to mention her diversity of monstrous creations can compete with any medieval bestiary!
Gary Russell
Gary graduated from Cambridge School of Art where he experimented with printing and collages. After graduation he did not practice art for a few years, until his passion was reignited after he was diagnosed with depression. His whimsical dreamlike collages tap into folklore, spirituality and popular imagination. Gary has had solo exhibitions and groups shows at London’s Dalston Superstore, Rich Mix, Curio Cabal, He has also participated in projects with The Ministry of Stories, Art Against Knives, and Talent House. As well as London, his work has been exhibited in New York, Bulgaria’s music festival meadows in the mountains and the Vienna Art Showcase. His works have been featured in Aesthetica Magazine, Veux Magazine, and U’Niq Magazine.
Benjamin Bridges
Ben graduated from Wimbledon with first class honours in Fine Art in 2010 and since then had a practice that explored the limits of his favourite medium – paint. In the last four years he has not only extensively exhibited (9 shows in 2013 alone!) but also started the project Hallow Earth London that helps emerging artists, organised HELD Film Festival, and is currently working on Croydon International Film Festival.

Risks and challenges
The main challenge is funding, without funding Art Map will not achieve its full potential. If this Kickstarter is unsuccessful I will have to search for alternative funding opportunities and investment, and I rather spend this time developing and perfecting Art Map London.
