Glance is the first smart accessory to turn your existing watch into a smart watch.
Glance is designed to let you focus on the conversations that matter most, and live in the moment. Glance is precision crafted into a remarkably thin, light design with machined aluminium, fits on the wristband on your watch, and works well with your personal style.
Glance works well with your existing watch, and can also be worn with a premium leather strap.
What can Glance do for you?
Keep your phone in your pocket:
Control your Smart TV or Computer:
Maintain your personal style with comfort:
Glance comes with an Android and iOS app, if we get enough backers for Windows and Blackberry we will build them as well. Please see stretch goals section.
Glance can be used as an air mouse to control your computer. Over the past year, we have researched and developed ways to integrate motion sensors with your computer, and have implemented this technology within Glance.
Glance features a thin rubberized layer that secures it on your watch without leaving any residue
Our team has experience in designing wearable technology products. We have used our design experience and consumer insights to develop a product that is aesthetically elegant, remarkably light and works seamlessly to provide all the features in a simple and natural manner.
Glance has been designed to match the curvature of your wrist, and comes in three sizes to fit small, medium or large wrists. Glance has been worn by many people from concept to final design, and each prototype has been repeatedly improved to ensure a comfortable fit.
The display shows you text messages and notifications as they come through your smartphone. We have partnered with speed reading technology company Spritz that enables stable text reading at upto 450 words per minute. Spritz's patent-pending technology is already being used by thousands of developers world-wide, and Glance is bringing the same technology to your wrist.
A single full colour LED lets you be notified when an email, text message or group message comes in. Three white LEDs show you how many messages have cued up for your email, phone calls or instant messages.
Use your hand as a pointer on your screen to control your mouse. Make a simple thumb tap gesture with your fingers to simulate a click when using the air mouse mode.
Two tactile buttons to allow you to control the three modes of the device:
To activate and use Glance, you need to have one of following devices:
Developers can use the Glance, together with our motion recognition in two ways:
A simple connection code to bring events from Glance into your web application.
Here is a link to our developer dashboard, that you will be able to access when you receive your Glance.
We have already completed an initial production run with our local manufacturer, and are fixing the bugs to be in a production ready state. We have gone through a number of design revisions are looking to move to a flexible PCB design such to fit the curvature of your wrist.
The final design process will take 4 weeks followed by a pilot run, and finalization by the end of July. Here we will move into the larger production run for the first 1000 beta devices. Those of you lucky enough to be part of this group will have the first access to Glance and help perfect the product for those who receive the next group.
Current objectives are to finalize both PCBA design for end of June, Beta versions of device for July and initial Beta device in September. Testing will occur through September and October, shipment to the remaining backers is set for December this year.

In order to tackle the many challenges with bringing a new device to the market we have partnered with one of the leading embedded systems companies in Canada (Rowebots Inc.). We have partnered with a local manufacturer to produce our initial prototypes and helps us with our design review process. The close proximity helps us keep a close feedback loop for reliability and testing.
To prepare for a smooth rollout we are staging our delivery of devices, the first 1000 units will have a finalized version of hardware with upgradeable software.
We are also working with a Fortune 500 manufacturing company to build and distribute our product at large (greater than 10,000 units) volumes.
With your support, we can bring a Glance to be worn worldwide. While we're close to entering production, your contribution will help fund:
- Production tooling
- Large component ordering
- Production ready real-time operating system
- Miniaturization of current board to provide a smaller and more reliable form factor
- Global Bluetooth certification
We are focused on developing a great wearable product that provides information you care about. We aim to provide information to let you live a happier, healthier and more productive life. We were founded in 2013, and Glance is our second product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Following the end of the project (July 3rd), backers will be contacted to confirm their choice.
Please add the shipping fee to your pledge total. If you did not do so, click the "Back this Project" button again and it should take you to a screen where you can edit your original pledge amount to include the cost of shipping.
Yes, you should be able to use a regular Bluetooth headset simultaneously with Glance (i.e. they do not interfere with one another).
At the moment, the Glance is set up for English but developers will be able to develop apps to provide support for other languages.
It will continue to function as an activity tracker or world time clock. For example, if you're just running the world time in England or New York that time will continue to display, you don't need a phone at all except to initially load them onto Glance.
Glance must be within 20-30ft of your smartphone to stay connected.
Glance is made of aluminum, if you have an allergy email us and we will let you know of a few potential solutions we have in mind.
Please try contacting us again in a few months, when things will have calmed down around the office a bit. We may be slow responding, but we would love to help if or when we can.
Using a high precision accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer we capture your hands movement through space. This allows for those motions and rotations to be translated into actionable events.
Glance works with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. It connects to these compatible technologies via a Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy connection.
Glance device has an on-board rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery. We are constantly optimizing the battery life performance and are shooting for longer than a week of usage.
Glance has been designed to have a small, medium and large size which we will confirm your size at the end of the campaign.
Because we want you to have a seamless experience out of the box, we’re going to be providing pre-set gestures that are easily recognizable. We also provide the ability for you to train a single custom gesture using our app.
Glance enters listening mode for a set period of time for custom gestures, for example if riding a bike, only when a call or message comes in will it start to listen for your set gesture (e.g. a circle).
This reward is an aesthetic design prototype, no electronics are inside.
Charging is done through a USB which you can plug into your wall or computer to recharge.
We will be offering a 30 day warranty with Glance. Once we have the full warranty available it will be shared with backers and the community.
