The Inspirational CD, "Goin’ Home" has uplifting music, great songs, and joyful singing with world-renowned singers.
I’d like to tell you about an amazing new music project. It’s the making of a new CD called “Goin’ Home” and a subsequent National Tour around this project. This CD will be released on the Watchfire Music label. It involves an inspiring blend of great tradition and cutting-edge new music and deals with a very important aspect of each of our lives.
Everyday I read from a book of truths each morning along with my other spiritual study and one of the stories went like this:
“I asked my guru why he sat and wept every New Year’s day when everyone around him was out celebrating. He answered that he wept for all those who had not prepared for their passing.”
I thought to myself, “I’d like to go through that experience, when it comes, fully aware and alert, expectant joyful, and filled with spiritual curiosity. When it comes to that transition, we Americans tend to look the other way and pretend that it doesn’t exist. I don’t want to be like that."
What better way to prepare than to write about it.
So, "Goin’ Home" is about Heaven and Beyond. And it’s about music, great songs, uplifting, and joyful singing. It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s rich in its depth, and it definitely rocks the house.
"Goin’ Home" is written as a Gospel Cantata. A cantata is simply short for “a musical composition for voices and orchestra based on a spiritual text.”
It’s performed by a mostly African American cast of top New York Session singers – great friends that I’ve worked with many years now like Jenny Burton, Darryl Tookes, Angela Clemmons, Cat Russell, and John James. They are joined by vocalists Kevin Osborne, Vaneese Thomas, and Keith Fluitt.
Our vocal arranger and choir leader is Margaret Dorn, an amazingly talented lady who I’ve had the pleasure to work with for over 25 years now. She has an ear and touch like no other.
Take a minute while you’re considering this offer and read through bios of those involved with "Goin' Home" below. You will get a great snapshot of their incredible talent and range of music experience over the years. They are joined on the CD by 3 Special Guest Stars – Tom Tipton, who sings the title song, Julia Wade, Watchfire Music’s best selling artist, and virtuoso trumpeter, Barry Danielian. You may know his sound from Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Queen Latifah, Bon Jovi and Tower of Power to name a few.
Some of the songs on the CD I’ve written, and some are fresh new arrangements of great Gospel classics, for example, the beautiful title song, “Goin’ Home”, also "In Dat Great Gittin’ Up Mornin”, a great old Gospel standard called, “My Father’s House” and even “When The Saints Go Marchin’ In”. The ever amazing songwriter Julie Gold lends a new song, "Come To Me As A Bird" to the CD. Julie Gold is a New York songwriter best known for Bette Midler’s version of her song "From A Distance" which won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1991.
The money we raise for this CD will help finish the recording of the CD, master it, manufacture and promote it. Every dollar counts to help make this project come to life.
Of the 12 songs that comprise "Goin Home", nine and a half are now finished and ready to mix. We will release this CD before the Christmas Holidays 2011 and it will be available on the Watchfire Music site as well as Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby and the many other Internet music outlets.
I want you to know that I believe deeply in this album. It is some of my best work. Its purpose is to open our eyes to the timelessness of our future. I hope you might be able to join me on some level in this endeavor.
We are always grateful for your support.
Your contribution, whether large or small, is critically important to the success of this endeavor.
We’d love you to be a part of this very special event.
Many thanks, and love to each of you,
