In these crazy times, we need comedy songs even more than ever, whether it's exposing hypocrisy through satire, relieving stress thru laughter, or just connecting with a community of smart, socially aware people.
I've been doing weekly topical political comedy songs since 2012, and let's just say there's going to be even more material - and more need for satire - starting in 2017. Producing and selling an album will make it possible for me to continue putting these songs out there for free. And this campaign lets you help keep political satire going and get fun stuff in return, whether it's a couple of downloads, a bunch of signed albums, custom-written songs, or more.
What will this campaign pay for?
And here's a quick 'before-and-after' illustration of what a difference recording in a studio can make:
Check out the song inspired by some of my less-than-complimentary comments, "Dear Internet Trolls"
And a couple of videos from other songs that will be on the album -
A post-election twist on Michelle Obama's words of wisdom, "When They Go Low, We Get High"
And my response to xenophobic hysteria, "We Are (Mostly) All Immigrants, You Shmucks" -
Backing this project will help keep this type of satire going, and you can enjoy a signed CD, customized song, or other fun rewards!
Risks and challenges
Risks & challenges - Since the album is already mostly completed, the only real risk is that the manufacturing company (CDBaby, and they're quite reputable) moves to Norway, or the US Postal Service goes defunct. (Then again, who knows what will happen with the incoming administration - which is all the more reason to get this project funded before 2017!)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
