Welcome to our Kickstarter campaign. Mega Dodo was started by a couple of oddball music fans a few years ago with the sole aim of releasing the Mordecai Smyth album ‘Sticky Tape & Rust’. Thanks to some very groovy people, Mega Dodo has since grown into a tiny but perfectly formed record label.
From the very off, Mega Dodo was intended as a Record Label, not a CD label or download label. We love vinyl, the look of it, the smell of it and the size of it. You have to admit that vinyl is the best way to enjoy music. However, Mega Dodo has a tiny budget, actually, Mega Dodo has no budget, and making vinyl records isn’t cheap. That’s why we need your help.
Mega Dodo has just released the new Crystal Jacqueline album ‘Sun Arise’ on CD. Everyone who has heard it loves it. It sounds fantastic, but it would sound even better on vinyl. It would also look fantastic on vinyl. We’re planning a special yellow vinyl edition, and if we raise enough money a gatefold sleeve.
We can only make this happen with your help. We’ve got some nice bonus packages available at reasonable prices. You can help from as little as £6; every penny will take us closer to reaching our goal.
About Crystal Jacqueline: Crystal Jacqueline, currently the singer and keyboardist with The Honey Pot, is a breath of new psychedelic frenzy. Her first album for Mega Dodo, ‘Sun Arise’, was released in October 2013. It's chock full of great psyche rock from classic covers to brilliant new songs by Icarus Peel. Earlier in the year Jacqui released an equally splendid EP on the Fruits de Mer label. Both have received remarkably positive reviews.
Mega Dodo has a very well received discograpy. We always try our very best to make our records look and sound great. We are totally confident that this project will become a reality. The album has been recorded, mixed and mastered. It’s been reviewed and played on the radio, but the challenge, as always, is to reach as large of a listening audience as possible and to seek out new fans. I think we can do that by following our dreams and making Crystal Jacqueline’s stunning album look and sound even better by releasing it on lovely analogue vinyl.
Risks and challenges
To be honest the risks are pretty small. The album has been recorded and mastered. The album artwork is finished but might need a little tweaking for vinyl release. Everything is in place. All we need is the funding to get the records manufactured, which is a twelve week turnaround. The only risk is that somebody asks Jacqui to record an exclusive vocal version of Tubular Bells. But knowing Jacqui and Icarus, I'm sure they'd find some way of doing it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
