About this project
We started NativeDanger a few years ago from nothing and have made it to where we are now completely out of our own pockets with what we’ve been able to scrap together from our current modest full time day jobs. As it stands we’ve been producing all of our products in house. Everything from the initial sketch to the production of small size runs. This process is both extremely expensive and unbelievably time consuming. We’re asking for your help now as we make a massive stride to officialize NativeDanger into a proper operation. Our hope is to establish not just a brand that is from DC but one that gains a reputation as a formidable brand across the board. There's a lot of work to be done and several young DC artists have aligned themselves with the project and are volunteering a ton of help towards all of the work involved in such an undertaking. However, one of the biggest initial hurdles is acquiring a sufficient start up amount. The funding from this Kickstarter will enable us to purchase materials and to have the initial collection manufactured for distribution. This initial collection will be critical in getting the ball rolling towards all that we envision for the brand. With the core of this endeavor being founded on the concept of creating and working with our hands we hope to one day be able to afford the equipment, space and labor to produce on a large scale right here in DC. Our plans are big and ambitious but we like to think that what we've accomplished so far is a small testament to the fact that we're whole souled in our intention to pull this off.
In appreciation for your pledges towards this important growth step for us we'll be offering products from the Fall/Winter 2013 collection ahead of season made by hand, in house by us and custom fitted. We'll also be offering the opportunity to have us whip you up your own personal custom designs in return for some of the larger pledge sums.
Below are the pieces each level of pledge will be rewarded with.
Risks and challenges
With our collection already completely sampled, patterned, marked, graded, a manufacturer selected and expenses of material and production calculated we're very prepared and eager to get started. However, when undertaking such a large project there are always risks and challenges to over come. One of the biggest challenges would be any potential third party issues with the manufacturing company. If the manufacturing factory were to delay in the completion of the order it could compromise the overall goal. Another unknown is the exact response we'll receive from stores and shops. Although we are confident in our products only time will tell the exact success we we'll have in distribution. Our goal is to grow at a natural and healthy rate, slowly winning over new shops and clients as we continue to demonstrate ourselves to be a consistent, reliable, on trend and simultaneously innovative with our designs season after season.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
