About this project
In April of 2011 Lady and Gent was born. Garret Williams, and his brother Ben, met up with Caleb Loveless and Dana Sorensen to prepare for an upcoming "Battle of the Bands". After only a handful of practices, they played their first two shows. The first, a "qualifier" night for a battle of the bands, and the second, an extremely competitive battle of the bands finale. After winning the battle of the bands, one that featured 20 of Utah's best up and coming bands, they began to realize their potential. They continued on, developing their sound and playing shows for several months before connecting with Ben Sorensen of 29th Street Studios. Lady and Gent hired him as producer of their debut album "To Death in Delta" and began recording in February of 2012. Lady and Gent has scheduled the release of these recordings at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo Utah on April 27th 2012.
While performing on an early morning news show in Salt Lake City Garret was asked what genre of music Lady and Gent played, he paused for a minute and then stuttered out "Uh... Folk...Country music... or something." While they may not play folk country music, they do play real music. Their songs are written from the honest place, of not so perfect hearts. They are songs written from personal experiences. Songs about true happiness and true sadness, about real love and fake love, about long lives and short lives. They may not know what genre of music they play... but they know its real.
