About this project
San Francisco Irish rock band, The Shams, are releasing their first Kickstarter campaign to raise money for their upcoming album. The multifaceted Irish- influenced rock album will be the second album for the band. The Kickstarter video will be debuted at their live show Sept. 26, 2014 at Neck of the Woods music venue, along with quirky incentives, like receiving your very own Rhode Island Red hen, straight from the one of The Shams personal chicken coop. They are also giving away an electric guitar and a limo ride to a gig with The Shams around San Francisco.
The album, produced by John Cesario (who has worked with big acts such as Fleetwood Mac and Eddie Money and is the creator of Rocket Songs) and engineered by Chris Cortez (Nice N Up Studios), has a raw, uniquely Irish feel to it – yet while it is strongly influenced by their Irish roots, their eclectic songs put them into a new genre of world/rock/punk music that appeals to music lovers of all ages. The album is set to be released later this year, date TBA.
The Shams have been featured at local music hotspots such as The Milk Bar, Bottom of the Hill and Neck of The Woods in San Francisco, as well as 19 Broadway in Fairfax, The Starry Plough in Berkeley and legendary L.A. favorites Molly Malone’s and The House of Blues. They’ve headlined many festivals and fleadhs (Irish for festival) and had an opportunity to work with and play with world renowned Irish musician Damien Dempsey, as well as The Irish Brigade to name a few.
The Shams provide listeners with a new. hard-hitting perspective on the evolution of Irish music, unlike you've ever heard before.
Completing this album depends on help from our fans. We need to mix and master the tracks we have completed, as well as record the rest of the album so it can be released by the end of 2014. We have 6 musicians and many instruments to record, which is time consuming and expensive. Please consider backing The Shams and help us bring our music to the world. The Shams greatly appreciate their fans and every donation made, great or small, helps make a difference. That’s the craic!
