"You are my favorite Grandchild so I'm leaving you my legacy, my treasure, including my most precious treasure of all. However I'm not just going to give it to you without some effort because you must prove yourself worthy of my ultimate treasure! You will have to find four maps throughout my mansion that lead to four areas that have my hidden treasure. If you can find all of my treasure then it will unlock my ultimate treasure and you will be worthy of carrying on my legacy!"
Find Me Coppers is a Treasure Hunting game using the Cube 2 engine where you explore five (or more depending on funding) vastly different areas, find secret passages and areas, avoid and escape traps, solve puzzles, and get to be a real adventurer! Think back to the days of hunting for Easter candy, playing Hide and Go Seek or when you'd go out exploring. That is the excitement we want to bring to the game and have interesting areas that keep you wondering what will be around the corner!
All my previous projects have been free because I love helping people have a fun time without any cost to themselves! However to make serious games and get talented people you need to pay them and need a budget. I'm excited that I can keep Find Me Coppers low priced but still offer a really fun and quality experience!
If we reach our goal I'll be super excited but if we happen to go over that'd be amazing!! Every dollar over will help to add new features and fun and if we get enough extra we could even add in more levels!
Here are some of examples of the engine that we will be using and our work! You can check out Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker which is the engine we'll be using, and I'm also the Project Lead of, at SandboxGameMaker.com though the updated engine featured in this video does not have a public release yet unless you download our development version.
Here are some screenshots of work MattH, the Lead Level Designer has developed with his friend Arcones!
Please feel free to contact me and ask questions and even make suggestions! If you offer ideas for the game that I like enough to include I'll even mention it in the credits!
Thank you for taking the time to check out our project and hopefully we can get the funding to make a fun treasure hunting game for everyone! :D
As an added bonus you can check out some of my past project that really put me on the map as a Game Designer and opened me up to many jobs including being a teacher for Game Design at a local College due to its crazy success!
Not all the maps are created by me but I was the Project Lead of the Doom 3 Mod Featured in the video called Last Man Standing Coop which won several awards and was featured in many magazines. As a note we added in Coop ourselves along with lots of other cool features including the Infrared Vision! You can check it out more at http://Doom3Coop.com
Risks and challenges
As a team we are qualified to complete this project because as you can see MattH is a very talented Level Designer and I have over 10 years of experience in the Game Design Industry. Through my work as the Project Lead of the Doom 3 Mod Last Man Standing Coop and Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker I've had lots of great experience starting a project from concept and turning it into award winning software! In addition we are using Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker to design the game which is a project I created and I'm also the Project Lead of so I have many years of experience with the software and MattH is the Lead Level Designer of Sandbox as well so we are very familiar with our game making tools!
In addition our project plan is relatively simple. We are going to be spending approximately one month on each of the five maps and leave two months for polishing up the game. Every map is going to be drawn out beforehand and the gameplay setup through design documents so that we are working on creating the maps as opposed to just designing them as we go. With all of my years of experience in the field and also working as a Game Design Teacher at a local college I have a lot of experience in properly planning out a game project.
Of course there are potential problems we might encounter that might make the project take longer to complete such as:
Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
- The maps not being up to the quality expected gameplay wise, looks wise, or both. We don't want to release anything that is sub-par, we want to give the people what they paid for and more!
- There are always external factors that could be a problem such as one of us getting sick or having some other sort of issue. If a person has to be replaced then that could delay the release.
Have a question?
If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
