Ancient Daze is a 4-part action comic series! Set in a modern urban area, there is a bit of a fantasy element that completes the feel of this story.
In the 1st story arc, our redheaded heroine fought against one of Jasper Sensei's former student's: Cloe.
If you've gotten this far, then you know how it ended.
".....by someone who is just like you."
Readers even discovered something mysterious about the crazed redhead at the climax of the fight:
And just before Cloe could get the discovery out of her mouth, the redhead ended the fight with one move.
And now, the redhead carries herself to the next challenge with more than she started off with.
And with our heroine ready, she goes on to the next level to fight her next opponent:
....the villain unlocked at the end of issue number 2!
We know Cloe's story, her infatuation of Jasper Sensei. What is the name of this next villain and her story? How did she help Cloe in getting the saber Jasper Sensei had named "Dual-Hearts"?
Wielding both Ancient Daze and Dual-Hearts, what is the name of the blade our crazed redheaded heroine will go up against now? What part of Jasper Sensei is still missing, and what is it capable of?
............leaving the city streets and buses behind........our redheaded heroine finds herself in a new location.
A quiet and dark castle of sorts, it seems.
With what little has been revealed about the new villain so far, what does her dwelling say about her?
And then there's an ominous echoing voice laughing from the upper floor.....
Our new villain now confronts our redhead:
But of course.....
..........isn't giving up the blade she stole......
...........from Jasper Sensei.
New villain. Same mission. Similar history. But.....
..........a different type of attitude to confront.
One of arrogance.
But our redhead is not impressed.
What is the name of this new villain? What's the name of Jasper Sensei's sword that she wields? What attributes will its name reveal?
Why, out of all of Jasper Sensei's swords, even those we may never know about, did she choose to steal this particular sword?
And if the redhead was able to heal from Dual-Hearts, does that mean she has nothing to fear from this blade?
Does the redhead know more about the blade than this blackheaded girl does?
Or, do we still not yet understand the redhead's ability? Does she carry wounds with her? Or has she merely changed? After all, not only does she continue to wield Ancient Daze, she wields Dual-Hearts, possibly gaining what Cloe hoped to gain.
Like most of my stories, this one came from a night of dreams. I say it that way, because I dream every night, but sometimes God sends me specific dreams that leave impressions on me. I wake up thinking about them. I go all day thinking about them, knowing that they are to become stories.
This story was created from two different dreams that actually happened back-to-back.
The first dream featured the main character fighting the blonde character on a bus with swords. Their fight eventually moved to a double-stack bus! After that, the other dream began, pitting the main character against the other villain in a certain environment.
There are more details than that, of course, and you'll find them having worked out in the entire comic series. Details like the main character having red hair and a yellow dress while wielding a red sword. Even the title of this comic series was in my dream! So, well, that's how my stories happen. I'm a blessed man! I take what the dreams show me and run with them, watch them develop into something organic.
That's why I' m doing this!
I can't help myself! I love the mystery of stories, and when they come from dreams, one of the most mysterious things in our lives, I feel led to find out what they mean. I want to know what they might tell me, what they might tell others.
I don't have it in me to keep these things to myself!
So, if I'm able to share with someone something that's even a mystery to me, perhaps we can express to one another what we got from these stories and connect in some unforeseen way.
The best stories teach us things! They inspire! They encourage! They lift us up! They open doors!
People have desires deep within them, and there are so many ways those desires are pulled out for them to examine and hopefully discovery more about themselves from them in that moment!
I've never had an easy way of deciding on what genre my stories fall under, seeing as my dreams seem to transcend genre and just do what they do how they want to do them. That liberating feeling when I transcribe the dreams to try to make sense of them is more than I can bare, and I keep going back!
I hope I can share these feelings with you!
This is the first picture I ever drew of the main character not long after I had those dreams, and of course, I was messing around with style, but this is how I remembered her from those dreams:
Now, for the newcomers....why does does this comic look like a video game?!
My approach was to draw with very few lines, creating everything with shapes of colors and textures. Of course, I had to apply lines where needed in order to show division and detail instead of everything looking like a blob, but as I began to work it out, I started thinking about cell-shaded art.
I've played a few games that were created with cell-shaded art, and I always thought they were cool. As I ran with this idea, it was inevitable that I would think about pixel/8bit art.
I've messed around with 8bit art before, so when I considered using it in this comic, I thought about a Level 1 or Stage 1 screen that separated the prologue from the chapter. From there, the video game theme just took off!
I set up the 4-part comic series as 4 levels and came up with a Stage Map:
Between the prologues and chapters of all 4 comics, this Stage Map will be featured, showing the progress the main character makes as she "completes" each issue!
There will be a PDF reward tier, but those who want the physical book will only have to pledge $10, which includes the shipping.
I still have plenty of these first story arc stickers. These will be for those who pledge to get issues 1 and 2 to catch up to issue 3.
For issue 3, I will include the new stickers of the redhead in her black dress.
Like I said, since this campaign is for issue 3 and there might be some newcomers to this series, there is a reward tier to get #1, #2, and #3! PDF or Paperback!
And of course....Elite Reward Tiers:
I've self-published stories in the past and sold printed copies at several regional Anime and Comic Cons, and they are available on Amazon as well. However, I wanted to include them as special items in this campaign.
Maybe you're familiar with my graphic novel, Legacy, and my webcomic, Impisha, but if not, here's your chance! Through this campaign, you'll get them at lower prices and shipping!
I write/draw all kinds of genres of stories, whichever way the stories take me, you know?
Sort of a dark drama revolving around a super-being and its promise to a small group of people.
An action fantasy about the main character, Impisha, being dragged into a secret war to take back her kingdom, even though she had walked out on them.
About an eccentric who stumbles upon a way to view the past and uses this to find out what happened to a small scale disappearance of a mysterious community.

Risks and challenges
Like my previous campaign, I set the goal pretty low, mostly because I want to make sure that those who pledge will definitely get the comic. I don't plan on making a lot of money from this yet. Most of the money will be used to print the copies and ship them. Even if the kickstarter goal is reached, each pledge after that will just add to the number of copies that will be printed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
