This project is a short film set in the near future. It follows a young girl who is being babysat by smart home computer operated AI. The AI will live on the walls of the home and guide the young girl through her day.
This short is inspired by the show Black Mirror and my experience as a babysitter. I am intrigued by how young children interact with technology today. Especially how parents deal with that technology. Who does the child really learn more from and what consequences does that have?
I am working in collaboration with an animator at SUNY Purchase and (as shown in the video above) have done some tests of how "Max" will look. I am also working with a different voice actor to give Max more life and character. So, he may encounter some alterations along the way, but what you see is the main look of the babysitter.
"Robositter" is a dark comedy, filled with the trip-ups and misunderstandings technology makes. Lighthearted in the childish way of exploring a technology, but dark in the way tech has lasting effects on our society and psyche.
I hope I've piqued your interest and please help make this project (and Max) come to life!
