Ever wonder how spaceships work or how we explore the solar system?
Rocket Science is a tour of the latest in spacecraft technology and planetary exploration by real-life aerospace engineer Andrew Rader and illustrator Galen Frazer. Explaining the physics of space travel in a way that's easy to understand, the book is accessible to anyone. It's sure to ignite the imagination of kids of all ages, and even curious adults.
Why do rockets use staging? What's an orbit? Is there gravity in space? How did we get to the Moon? How would we get to Mars? How do we travel into deep space? Could we get to another star? These are just a few of the questions answered in Rocket Science.
Rocket Science is primarily aimed at kids in the 6-10 range, but its illustrations would be appealing to younger kids if parents were reading, and the book is even suitable as a light reader for adults interested in learning a thing or two about space engineering and planetary science.
This hardcover book features 42 brand new full spread illustrations by professional graphic artist Galen Frazer. Rocket Science is the third book by Andrew and Galen, the first two being Epic Space Adventure and Mars Rover Rescue, which were aimed at younger kids.
By backing our Kickstarter, you can get not only Rocket Science, but also Epic Space Adventure and Mars Rover Rescue. At the end of the Kickstarter, you'll be able to specify how many copies of each book you'd like for your order. You can mix & match, allowing you to check off multiple people on your Christmas shopping list at once. For example, if you order 3 books, you could get one of each, or two of one and one of another, or all three of a single book.
You can also get tons of other great awards, including an 18" x 24" poster by Galen of the entire solar system showing all the space missions featured in the book: Voyager, Curiosity, Cassini, New Horizons, and many more!
Along with the deluxe sets, you also get the books autographed by Andrew, a mission patch, and a planet & moon sticker pack. And every order comes with a secret bonus.
If you're a teacher (or know any), you can get great deals on bulk packs, which can mix the three books. You can even arrange a 20 minutes Skype call about space exploration for your class!
Rocket Science will ship to arrive in time for Christmas this year*.

Update 11/11/2017: draft posters & buttons
Galen did a great job on the draft posters:
For the mission patches, we held a few polls to gather ideas. There were two popular themes. One was inspirational, with a phrase like "Go for Launch". The other was humorous, with a phrase like "It's not Rocket Surgery". We couldn't resist running with both ideas, so now we're doing both patches and wearable buttons (patches inspirational, buttons funny). Here's a teaser of one of the designs we're considering:
*Within the USA. For international orders, we'll try to get it to you by Christmas, but shipping times vary so we can't promise it will arrive on time in all cases.
**Note that if you're an international backer (outside the USA), shipping rates are unfortunately a bit expensive. However, you will get a much better deal with two books than one because shipping rates are the same for each (based on weight).
