This film delves into the attraction to comic books, the collaboration process, the history of American Comics, comic books into movies, independent publishing, and how some of our favorite superheroes were created. COMIX asks Stan Lee, creator of the Marvel universe...“What makes a good superhero?” A self-proclaimed “superhero specialist,” Stan explains the genesis of his legendary comic book character Spiderman who has weaved an iconic imprint on popular culture. Sin City creator Frank Miller shares his insights on the challenges of bringing a film noir-style comic to the silver screen. COMIX also gets up close and personal with fans like Chris Gutierrez, a school teacher by day and a member of the Star Wars 501st Legion by night, and what drives his passion for comics into crafting the costumes and assuming the roles of his favorite characters.

More than 300 hundred hours of exciting footage have helped to make COMIX a documentary that we hope touches the comic book fan in all of us.
Our target goal is $35,000. The film is almost done. We have completed the editing, the graphics look awesome, and it has an amazing score, but we need your help to finish the film. To be honest, it’s taken ten years to make this film because I have funded all of it on my own. I have invested tens and tens of thousands into this movie and am now at a point where I need help and I am hoping that you will consider being a part of a film that I believe is special. COMIX is a visual art form and the images are an integral part of the story and couldn’t be told without them. The donations raised will help pay for the use of more than 200 comic book images from major and independent publishers. Your contribution will also pay for technical aspects like color correction, packaging design, the initial production run, independent promotion, special event logistics, and merchandise.
Check out the cool rewards available for different donation levels! For anyone who donates at any level, your name will appear on the thank-you page of the COMIX website and you will also receive special updates.
I’ve always loved comic books! As a child, all I ever wanted to do was draw Spiderman and Batman. I stared for hours at Batman comics, captivated by every detail.
When I began this filmmaking journey, I wanted to capture the process of making a comic book from idea to finished book in a fun, informative, and inspirational way that, as a fan, a film I always wanted to see.
Ten years later, COMIX has blossomed into a full-length feature documentary, and we are almost at the finish line. I am so proud of the film and the caliber of people who agreed to be a part of it. I am also so thankful for everyone who worked behind the scenes and put so much passion into every frame.

Risks and challenges
This Kickstarter project has little risk of not being completed. COMIX has been shot, edited, the graphics are complete, the sound has been edited and mixed, and the film is completely scored.
Although the images in COMIX have been pre-approved through fair use, we must still secure funds to pay for the insurance. There are also challenges in completing the technical aspects to make this film look amazing.
Ten years in the making and investing tens of thousands from his own savings and with the philosophy that "no is not an option," this filmmaker is absolutely committed to sharing the remarkable stories that have been captured. Please support this independent feature length film.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
