About

It was beyond bad intel, it was pretty much nonexistent intel. The weapons factory’s shelves were bare, every single crate, box, and container removed moments before they’d arrived. Even the floors were swept clean. But they hadn’t quite been fast enough. The Task Force had landed and made quick work of external security, taking the factory just in time to see the hostile vacate down a back hallway. Machine gun fire peppered back and forth, echoing to near-deafness in the tightly confined area, metal shelves rebounding gunshots, doubling and tripling them along the way. But Sarge and the Valkyrie had caught motion. Just enough motion to take pursuit.    

They’d charged forward out into the loading dock, M4 and ACR lifted and firing at their target just ahead. He was wearing a thick armored chest plate and rounded armor face mask, a hip-mounted stedi-cam heavy machine gun clasped tightly in both hands. As the hostile opened fire Sarge drifted left towards the nearest storage container and the Valkyrie charged right, as bullets danced ragged sparks along the concrete and pinged hard off the metal surfaces around them. The entire night was alive with muzzle flashes.    

The Val dropped to a baseball slide, barely sliding under return fire as she skidded to relative safety behind one of the weapons crates they had hoped to find inside. Her primary weapon dropped, she held her secondary weapon strapped tight to the sheath on her back and tracer fire carved through the air between them. In the darkened night sky, Sarge pressed his back to the metal container and heard the first sign of approaching helicopters, fearing a bad night was about to get worse.

A modern tactical combat roleplaying game where you can build your own character with Marauder "Gun-Runners" extensive line of customizable action figures. As you build your own figure using Marauder "Gun-Runners" wide assortment of modular accessories, your build choices determine your character's options for attack and defense. In between missions, you can reconfigure your character's build based on the type of operation with many different accessory options available on the Marauder "Gun-Runners" site

This project will produce the Marauder Task Force Roleplaying Game Corebook and one set of Weapon and Armor cards, which will include all the rules you need to play both modes of the game. The Corebook and the cards will include stats for all currently released Marauder accessories. Beyond this project, Marauder "Gun-Runners" will release stats for all future Marauder "Gun-Runners" accessory releases.

 

The game is run using the new Tactical RPG game system that is flexible, fast, and fun to play. 

In campaign mode, the game is built around a game master, a "CO," who leads play in a typical RPG fashion. Each of the players builds their character based on class templates. They can use any existing figure or custom build their character on the Marauder Gun-Runner site. The players' characters are a squad of highly trained operatives—the Marauder Task Force! The CO takes them through each mission and manages the team through their downtime.

In skirmish mode, the game is a small battle between two opposing squads. Each player (or teams of players) fields their own squad and each team has specific win conditions, based upon the scenario agreed upon. Some may feature two squads balanced by point build, whereas others may not be equally balanced but a weaker force will be granted easier to obtain objectives.

The intent of the system is to simulate a tactical combat system similar to turn-based computer games. You will manage action points and make shots that factor in distance, conditions, and weapon choice. This game system will be available for other licensed properties in the future.

By using the Weapon and Armor cards, you can easily keep track of what dice to roll for both the campaign mode and the skirmish mode.

Marauder "Gun-Runners" have been producing our highly-detailed, highly-customizable action figure line for years. When we introduced our figures, we called them "Gaming Figures." This project is the realization of that dream.

Players can go to Marauder "Gun-Runners" and custom build their characters to use in this game. You can actually do this right now- you do not have to wait for this campaign to end!

We'll have stats in the game for every item we have currently available or in production. No matter what accessories you add to your character, you'll be able to represent their build in the game.

 

MJ Sullivan - Publisher

MJ has led the Marauder "Gun-Runners" line since its creation. He will ensure that the game and the products related to it meet the high standards that you have come to expect from the products we produce.

David Wilson Brown - Game Designer & Layout

David has worked in the industry in various capacities, starting as the founder of the CypherCast Network, the group producing Cypher System fan projects such as CypherCaster Magazine and several ENnie-nominated podcasts. He has served on the Monte Cook Games (MCG) Editorial Board since its inception. David was also the former publisher of Adventures in the East Mark through his company Extra-Dimensional Publishing. This will be David's first published game that he designed.

Jay Little - Design Consultant & Contributor

Jay Little is an award-winning game designer with dozens of titles to his credit. Jay's work is featured in a wide range of board games, card games, and roleplaying games for licenses like Star Wars, Star Trek, Warhammer, Mutant Chronicles, and Major League Baseball. He has been invited to share his experience and industry insights as a Guest of Honor at numerous conferences and gaming conventions across the country and is a frequent guest on several podcasts. When he's not designing or traveling, Jay teaches video game design and board game production at UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Jay will bring valuable veteran oversight to the development of the Tactical RPG System.

Justin Bell - Fiction & Setting Material

Justin is the author of several Kindle Worlds G.I. Joe stories & other works, as well as a story contributor to Eagle Force Returns project. Justin will help bring the strong military action team setting to life.

Jeremy Land - Lead Editor

Jeremy was the editor of The Eschatology Code and the Baby Bestiary. He is also a member of MCG's Editorial Board.

Ryan Lord - Art Director & Lead Artist

Ryan has long been involved with the Marauder Gun-Runners, creating the first MTF card artwork, including logo work and videos for our Kickstarter campaigns. Ryan has also worked with other figure lines such as Animal Warriors of the Kingdom and the Eagle Force Returns project.

Risks and challenges

We have successfully run 5 Kickstarter projects. We are proud to have delivered the items as promised. With each project, we encounter new challenges, but as with our earlier projects, have the design team and factory partners in place to solve any issues.

Game design is a new avenue for the Marauder crew, but we have brought in people with experience in the industry and a very successful game industry veteran to provide excellent consultation on the gameplay.
