A short fantasy adventure film with undertones of drama. We follow Max; a young boy as he struggles through his parents' divorce, he uses the fantasy role-playing game 'Fantopia' as a form of escapism in an attempt to liberate himself from his real-life problems.
When playing the game, we are transported to the imagined world of 'Fantopia' where the child players role-play as fantasy adult characters and with the use of carefully constructed metaphors in the fantasy world, we show how Max is dealing with problems in the real world.
Locations and upcoming content!
We've already started looking and securing some great looking locations!
Here, our heroes encounter a riddle they must solve... but do they succeed?
We have a bunch of upcoming content, behind the scenes material and VFX tests currently being made!
We've already started purchasing basic outfits for sub-characters but need your help! We want to really showcase the fantasy races within the Fantopia world with appropriate costume and that is part of what you would be helping fund.
Above you can find our team showreel, showcasing our teams' capability and the quality you can expect to come from a fully funded Fantopia!
Thank you very much for reading!
Risks and challenges
Being students, we understand the risks involved in such an ambitious project regarding money. Appropriate and accurate costumes for the genre will be expensive therefore a section of the profits acquired will be spent on the production design of 'Fantopia'.
If we are unable to create a realistic fantasy environment this will affect the overall outcome of the film and damage our general aesthetic. However, if we do struggle in terms of funding we do have cheaper alternatives in mind, but these won't be nearly as immersive as higher quality costumes and props would be.
The second area of production which we need to fund is our cast. It has become clear to us on previous projects the difference between paid and unpaid actors. Considering that we'll be working with child actors, and the emotional strand of our narrative is so imperative, we want to hire the best talent possible. However, if the profits raised aren't high enough to fund our actor's requirements we will find an alternative cast at local acting workshops.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
