About The Black Hack
The Black Hack is a super-streamlined roleplaying game that uses the Original 1970s Fantasy Roleplaying Game as a base, and could well be the most straightforward modern OSR compatible clone available. If speed of play and character creation, compatibility, and simple - yet elegant rules are what you yearn for. Look no further!
The Black Hack is a fast playing game and the rules can be picked up in minutes. The full rules fit in a single 20 page A5 book!
This campaign will fund a professional print run of the rule book, and if we make some Stretch Goals, add a few additional items to complement the game.
Stretch Goal #1 £800 - Printed Character Sheets UNLOCKED see Update #1.
Stretch Goal #2 £1,200 - Micro-Setting The Queer & Deadly Town of Sorrowset UNLOCKED see Update #2.
Stretch Goal #3 £2,000 - Mini GM's Screen UNLOCKED see Update #3
Stretch Goal #4 £2,400 - Laminated Covers UNLOCKED see Update #4

Here's a few quotes from the playtesting sessions of the game:
Mick Reddick - "Black Hack... Played this in beta and can honestly say this is as much fun as you can have with a retro clone! Simple, Streamlined and Superb."
Tony Tucker - "The Black Hack is so simple and flexible I can run it off the top of my head. Think up some weird monsters, give them some hit dice and go crazy!"
Daniel Sell, Undercroft ‘zine - "David black designs with spunk. Sharp and funny, full of the old spirit.”
Chris McDowall, Into the Odd - "Blackhack is three-chord D&D. It hand picks the best parts of the game's forty year history and distills it down to its firey, addictive spirit. Everything discarded is soon forgotten."
About the creators:
David Black - "David Black was asked as a child what he wanted to be when he grew up, working class England didn’t provide many opportunities for a career as a Frankenstein Cyborg - so now he’s a freelance motion designer instead, who dabbles with making games in his spare time. He lives in the Midlands, UK with his long suffering wife and two, given the circumstances, normal well-adjusted children. He thinks writing in third person is weird and oddly meta, so he’ll stop now - he ran out of meaningful things to say a couple of sentences ago anyway.”
Peter Regan - "Peter is the Editor and Publisher of Oubliette, a magazine for old school fantasy roleplayers. He also runs a webstore (www.squarehex.co.uk) which sells specialist gaming paper pads. He started playing RPGs over 30 years ago, and after a long break, returned to gaming in 2009. In 2013 he launched his first Kickstarter and has gone on to successfully fund and fulfill 15 projects."
Risks and challenges
This is my 16th Kickstarter project. All my past projects were delivered on or ahead of schedule. Although this is a new game, it is fully written and the layout is done. The only things that will require a little work are items that may be added as stretch goals. However, these are going to be simple items to create, and will have similar print lead times to the main book.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
