If you missed the end of this project, I'm still happy to accept latecomers right up to the point that the Kickstarter funds are transferred. If you want to join as a late backer, please visit the following page on my blog for details:
The purpose of this campaign is to fund a larger print-run of our Geomorphic Beermats. This is a quick campaign that will only run for 6 days. The beermats will be ordered as soon as the campaign funds, and I will commence posting them out to backers the day after the funds are transferred.
They are real beermats, that I've had printed with grids to make them also great as gaming aids. One side is printed with a 10x10 9mm grid, that is perfect for drawing dungeon geomorphs on. The other side has a 3x3 29mm grid, that is ideal for use with miniatures.
If you want to know what the beermats are like to draw on, the best option is to pop into a local pub or bar with a pen and try them out. The mats are very absorbent, so some pens will be more suitable than others. For the sample images on this page, I used a regular Sharpie permanent marker.
The beermats have a 3mm white border. Once trimmed with a sharp knife (please be careful), they can be placed next to each other to produce seamless maps and battlemats.
The beermats may also be cut up to make floorplans. The picture below shows what you can do with just 12 beermats.
Note to previous customers: If you placed an order at www.squarehex.co.uk for some of the test print-run stock, you will notice that the Kickstarter prices are lower. If the campaign is successful I will manually issue partial refunds so that the price you paid matches the Kickstarter pricing.
Risks and challenges
This is my 12th Kickstarter project. All my past projects were delivered on or ahead of schedule. My golden rule when running a Kickstarter Campaign is to only launch a new project after the rewards from the previous campaign have been dispatched.
For this project, I have already ordered a sample print-run of the beermats so the photos shown here are of the finished items. My plan is to place the print order the day after the campaign ends, and to be mailing the beermats out from the day the funds hit my account.
If the project is very successful (over 200 backers), I will clear time in my schedule, to ensure everything is mailed as quickly as possible. If the project is phenomenally successful (over 1000 backers) then I will put additional resources in place as required.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
