The aim of this project is to fund a print run of custom designed hardback notebooks for gamers. The notebooks will be a compact A6 size (105mm x 148mm) with wiro-binding, thick recycled card covers, and 50 sheets of custom printed paper.
The sheets in the notebooks will be litho-printed in grey (Pantone Cool Grey 5) on both sides. One side will have a 6mm grid, and the other side will have lines for notes. This will make them an ideal tool for writing game notes and ideas wherever you may be. The notebooks would also make perfect campaign diaries, in which players can collate maps and other essential notes as a game progresses.
The front covers of the notebooks will be left blank allowing you to write your name, campaign title, etc. The back cover will have a Squarehex.co.uk logo printed on it at the bottom.
These notebooks would make great Christmas gifts for your gaming friends, and if you opt for a pack of 10, they work out at just £2 each including UK delivery.
Our "Magic" +1 pencils are now also part of the campaign. See the image below and Updates 3 and 5 for details.
Stretch Goal 4 £3600 - 20% More Pages UNLOCKED
If we can get to £3,600 every notebook will have 60 sheets instead of 50. I've looked at other small additions as possible Stretch Goals, but I think none of them will deliver as much extra value as adding extra pages to the books.
Stretch Goal 1 £1000 - Upgraded paper UNLOCKED
At £1000 the paper in the pads gets upgraded from 80gsm to 100gsm. This makes the pages far nicer to write on, and reduces the amount of show-through when writing on both sides of a sheet.
Stretch Goal 2 £1200 - Upgraded Covers UNLOCKED
At £1200 the covers get an upgrade to heavier 2,200 micron board. This will make the notebooks more robust and they will have less flex when they are held in the hand whilst writing.
Stretch Goal 3 £1800 - Pencil +1 UNLOCKED
See Update #3
At £1,800 I will set my Dark Elves the task of producing hundreds of these magic pencils.
Backers pledging for 2 or 3 pads will get 1 pencil added to their reward free of charge.
Backers pledging for 5+ pads or a Bag/Box of Tricks will get 2 pencils added to their reward free of charge.
Risks and challenges
This is my ninth Kickstarter project. All my past projects were delivered on or ahead of schedule. My golden rule when running a Kickstarter Campaign is to only launch a new project after all the rewards from the previous campaign have been dispatched.
For this project, I will be using the same printing company as I did for my previous ones. My plan is to place the print order for the pads the same day the funds hit my account, and to be mailing the printed pads out to backers 3 weeks later. If the project is very successful (over 200 backers), I will clear several full days in my schedule, to ensure everything is mailed as quickly as possible. If the project is phenomenally successful (over 1000 backers) then I will put additional resources in place as required.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
