We are THRILLED to say that we have successfully raised our goal for this project! - BUT we are still able to take donations until Sunday at 11:59am. With any additional money raised we will be able to afford the best post production care that will make the final product even MORE amazing! So, won't you consider donating? THANK YOU!
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Our short film finds friends - Savannah and Emma - out of their element at Vera Cruz, a total dive lesbian bar in New York City. The story takes place on the fifth consecutive Tuesday night that the girls have made the trek to this particular spot - a pilgrimage of sorts. They are camped out waiting for a glimpse of their favorite actress Monique Harlowe.
WHO IS MONIQUE HARLOWE?
In our story Monique Harlowe is one of the hottest up and coming members of Young Hollywood. She is just coming off of a highly popular cable television series - and her plate is stacked with offers. It would appear that she is being primed to become the next 'it' girl.
And, as has become the norm in our society, she is becoming more and more popular on the celeb gossip sites and in the weekly dishy magazines. The public is in love with her, and who she loves is what inquiring minds burn to know. At the moment she's dating her former costar, another young, hot, up and comer … but no one's buying it. Rumblings have begun that perhaps 'America's Sweetheart in Waiting' is playing for the other team … but no one really knows for sure.
It has been reported, in a comment thread on a popular celeb gossip site, that Vera Cruz bar is Monique's favorite spot to really let loose, and Savannah and Emma are determined to investigate this claim. But how far is too far when it comes to following the life of a favorite celebrity? In a world saturated with reality tv and social media "Waiting For Monique Harlowe" takes a look at celebrity obsession and what it, ultimately, says about us as individuals.
We're trying to make a fantastic, and quality, short film. We know that we have all of the artistic pieces to really make this a kick-ass puzzle … all we need is the $$ to help it all come together. That is where you all come in. We are asking for just enough money to make this film a reality. We've crunched the numbers and it appears that to make this story come to life, in the way that we would like, it will cost a minimum of $8,000. We feel very confident that when this amount is raised we can create a really fantastic piece. It is also our hope and intention to submit this short to film festivals upon it's completion. Help us to bring 'Waiting For Monique Harlowe' to life!

WAIT. WHAT IS IT WITH ALL OF THIS 'JOUST' BUSINESS??
In the film Emma refers to Monique as a total 'Joust' - meaning that Monique is her ultimate idea of perfection. 'Joust' is a slang term that we have been using in our circle of friends for the last few years. Essentially, it is a person that has caught your eye, someone that you are attracted to, someone that you think is worthy of jousting over. Yes. Jousting - like old school, on a horse, Middle Ages jousting realness. Who do you find worthy of going to joust for? Think about it. It is most certainly a positive adjective (and sometimes verb) used to declare ones attraction to someone else. Use it in a sentence you say? - okay:
"See that woman at the table in the corner? The brunette with the blazer? She is a TOTAL Joust."
'Joust' is not only for the ladies, we have been known to eye a jousty fella or two in our day - yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, we're talking about you. Everyone is a Joust to someone, and we are celebrating that fact with our necklace - don it yourself, or gift it to your 'Joust' of choice.
'Joust' is also the abbreviated way to say that someone is 'Joust Worthy', which is pretty self explanatory, the below tee will highlight your desirable status loud and proud! Use it, spread it, hashtag it on social media - start the revolution! Vive la Joust!
WHO ARE WE?
We have all been friends for years, and then one day, a few months ago, Miranda shared her new idea for a short with Emily (Savannah) over a glass (or three) of wine - and BOOM! this project was born. Add in the lovely Miss Katie (Emma) and we have ourselves a party! This may be our first film as a writer/producer combo - but, have no fear, we have a really fantastic director (Stacey Haid) to be at the helm, and she has plenty of experience to balance out our naive enthusiasm. So be assured that we will be in awesome, professional, hands on set.
The money that you contribute will be directly used to: secure our location, obtain insurance and permits, rent camera & lighting equipment, purchase props, set dressing and wardrobe, provide some compensation to our awesome crew and talent, and of course, feed them all during our shoot days. I know that it's hard to part with even the smallest amount of money these days - but I promise that if you help us to make 'Waiting For Monique Harlowe' happen we will produce something that you can be proud to have been a part of.
Risks and challenges

We honestly and truly believe in the potential of this project and can't wait to get started! We are hoping to film in late October, so please do us a favor and spread the word about "Waiting For Monique Harlowe" to your friends and followers on your social media pages. We can't wait to share the finished project with you!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
