This Kickstarter project page shares with you our exclusive, first limited edition ready to wear collection drop.
We are dropping two eco swim styles for you to snap up. A boyleg one-piece for a sporty playful look and a simply love classic one-piece for a sexy yet stylish feel.
We estimate to be able to deliver you brand new Tasha Rui one-piece swim by late-November 2018 just in time to show off your new look for our Australian summer.
Hi! I am Natasha. As the lead designer and founder of Tasha Rui, I am proud to bring you two eco swim styles on our Kickstarter page.
Tasha Rui is a passion project that has been more than two years in development. I am more than a bit of a perfectionist and I am obsessed with details. Thorough my research, design, testing and valuable fashion advice from respected industry leaders from Vogue Australia, Queensland University of Technology, Fashion Council Australia... I am proud to bring you Tasha Rui's first capsule drop.
My Kickstarter goal is to share this passion project with you. I hope that you love it as much as I do... and if you support us I know you do! If we are successful, I will from here continue to drop new prints on our eco swim range and expand the resort wear production and curated accessories.
As the lead designer and founder of Tasha Rui, I am an exhibited and collected visual artist with almost 20 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in visual arts and a master's in museums.
The early groundwork for the label began many years ago. I studied print-making at university and experimented with textile painting, printing and design, for many years. The opportunity to develop the label concept further was provided by participating in the QUT Creative Enterprise Australia's competitive fashion business development program in 2016.
As I name dropped above, the label has benefited from support, positive feedback and guidance from industry leaders at Vogue Australia, the Australian Fashion Council through QUT Creative Enterprise Australia's Fashion360 program. I have continued to work with Australian labels, makers and suppliers and with more design, redesign, testing and production to push the label even further.
Since the program, I have continued to research eco production, establish industry contacts with quality producers, test different textiles and production methods, and ways of making to bring you the best quality product.
We want to provide products that consider people and our planet - that is why we want to change what responsible fashion looks like. At Tasha Rui we are constantly reviewing new approaches to production to provide what we call 'eco lux' options for our buyers that also considers the makers of our products.
Tasha Rui uses a product called ECONYL® a regenerated nylon in its blended swim textile. This blend features 72% regenerated nylon and 22% lycra for a great fit.
Nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. It's exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again. That means you can create new products and buy new products without having to use new resources.
We are always researching and evolving our products to seek the most environmentally sustainable and efficient practices for production.
As such, we are working locally as much as possible to reduce our carbon footprint.
WHO MADE YOUR CLOTHES
All of our products are manufactured in collaboration with business partners who respect the people that they employ.
Currently, all of our products are made in Australia, through quality makers and mostly through small and local businesses.
Our eco swim pieces have been designed in collaboration with experienced professionals in fashion industry.
We have worked with the best pattern makers, textile manufacturers, printers, cutters, fashion advisors, and production makers to bring you the finest quality made garments that feel great to wear in fit and texture.
ORIGINAL ART PRINTS
All of our prints are original and are based on hand-drawn and painted artworks by our lead designer, Natasha Lewis Honeyman. Each print at Tasha Rui is original and inspired by the natural environment.
The print that you see on these eco swim pieces are from The Sunshine Collection and is inspired by Queensland summers and is titled 'Wheel of Fire Red'.
Natasha has almost 20 years of experience as a visual artist and has exhibited extensively and her artwork is featured in public and private collections in Queensland.
See below, an example of an artwork in a Queensland Government collection in Queensland.
If successful, our first production run will be mid-September to mid-November 2018.
As we produce through the best makers in Australia and our orders are small, we fit our in around the large orders from major Australian labels to offer you the best quality Australian made garments.
As such, our Kickstarter will only be live until 31 August, so that we can collect your sizes and details and produce and delivery in time for summer.

Risks and challenges
Two years ago when we started our fashion label journey with Tasha Rui, we hadn't even heard of Econyl. This thorough research and trend spotting has helped us to bring you the latest in eco textile and production technology. The time spent in research and development has been well spent and we are so pleased that we are offer you alternative fashion options that is considerate of our planet and people.
WORKING WITH THE BEST MAKERS & SUPPLIERS
As a small producer, we need to be on our game for the best Australian makers and suppliers to work with us. As such, we have been developing relationships to establish the most suitable production channels to bring you the best possible price and product possible.
As we produce through the best makers in Australia and our orders are small, we fit our in around the large orders from major Australian labels to offer you the best quality Australian made garments. We want to work with the best in the industry and as such, we need to be a little patient to fit around the big fashion labels and it is so worth the wait.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
