On February 24, 2012, from 7-11pm, Intown Church and the People's Art of Portland will present the seventh annual Works, an event that celebrates the diverse art and culture we enjoy here in Portland, OR. This "art happening" has become one of the most anticipated nights of the year and will feature some of Portland's most stunning visual artists; painters, sculptors, photographers, multi-media artists, filmakers, and more, all showing their work within The Old Church, one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful buildings.
This year's Works is proud to have a musical line-up that will blow you away... Portland's beloved AGESANDAGES, the always amazing musical chameleon BRYAN FREE, the haunting voice of Kelly Masigat, and the dark electro art pop outfit PURSE CANDY.
In addition to the musical acts, spoken word artist Jeff Hardison will keep you rolling in the aisles with his Portland by way of Kentucky wit, and there may be a visit from a rather famous Portlander that you won't want to miss...
Attendees will also enjoy great beer and wine paired with locally sourced food prepared by fantastic local chef, Berkely Braden.
We believe that celebrating the arts in our community is vital to keeping them strong, that's why we could think of no better way to do just that than to throw a huge party, and showcase as much amazing local talent as possible in one night! Works also helps out the hungry in our community as well by asking for cans of food at the door for the Oregon Food Bank.
Now, obviously putting on an event like this is going to take some funding, and we are almost there...but we need just a little bit more to cover some of the added costs. That's where you come in. If you can help out in any way to get Works up and running by contributing a small or large financial investment, we will be so very thankful and appreciative! And to show our appreciation, we are offering rewards for being a financial backer...at the low end, free admission and an artist and musician autographed poster, and at the high end, commissioned artwork and other fantastic incentives!
Check out our blog, Facebook page, and Twitter feed for updates and information on Works, we hope to see you there!
(Admission is $10 at the door or $8 with a canned food item for the Oregon Food Bank)
