Hi everyone! I'm recording my first solo record under the title, Noah and the MegaFauna. The project is an attempt at combining my song writing style, with my passion for Django Reinhardt Gypsy Jazz. I've never been so excited about a project. This is partly because it has my name on it, but also because everyone involved has been so passionate! It is a project I didn't expect, but sometimes music forces it's way out, whether you want it or not! Now, I need your pre order to pay for mastering and pressing it to Vinyl.
I'm doing it right!!! I've assembled a ridiculous cast of musicians, from all over the country and world. I've got my brothers Gabriel and Joshua helping orchestrate and produce, and playing clarinet and keyboards respectively. Virtuosic (although she would hate that I said that) violinist Naomi Wen, making her violin and Erhu weep, then making you weep. My buddies Shiben Bhattacharya and Chris Lovejoy on upright bass and drums. My cousin Travis Knight adding some percussive madness. Duets with fantastic chanteuses, Kat Edmonson, Emily St Amand Poliakoff, Marianne Dissard, and Mindy Jones. World renowned gypsy jazz guitarist Gonazalo Bergara burning some hot guitar. And if all that's not enough for you, we have a seven piece horn section we recorded in New York, and Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guest drumming!
I've also enlisted some of my favorite writers and minds to co-write lyrics with, my brother Joshua, our favorite Boy in the Bubble, Josh Seidenfeld, and novelist and poet Will Chancellor. All of this being committed to tape by my main man and producer extraordinaire Adam Lasus, with help in the Bronx by Joe Rogers, so you know it's gonna sound great, and new Artwork by Michael Garza, so you know it's going to look great!!!
Alas... to call this a solo record is silly, this is a team record and I'm lucky enough to know so many people, who have brought their passion and love of art and music to the project. I've already payed for most of the record's recording and mixing, now I need help financing the last bit of it. Your pre-order ensures proper mixing, mastering and printing of the record on beautiful LP's. We are going to master with Greg Calbi at Stearling Sound in NYC. That may not mean a lot to you, but when you hear the final project, you will understand.
I would never ask for investors or a handout after my experiences with the music biz. I love and respect you all too much for that at this stage of my life, but that's why this Kickstarter thing is so cool. You can preorder something I'm gonna make, either way, and make sure it gets finished this spring, rather than over the next year while I scrape together monies.
I hope you'll be part of the madness, help spread the word, and enjoy the debut album from Noah and the MegaFauna.
