A long awaited update from 'FUNNY FEET'
Hi everyone! It's been awhile and I have been in touch with many of you all along, but I wanted to let you all know where the project now is. First of all, I want to thank all of you who continually reach out and who have contributed nonetheless. The funds I gathered, $1235, I am happy to report, have gone to great use!
I have just completed my second year in a row, teaching 'character comedic movement' workshops at Universal Studios Osaka, but was able to film an incredible interview (thanks to you), with the famous film Director Masayuki Suo ('Shall We Dance' & 'Chaplin Dances') in Tokyo, before I began work here in Osaka. This now makes over six countries towards completion of my film on 'visual comedy in dance'!
I had been delayed in pursuing my trip to the UK, with the sudden passing of my colleague there, but have managed to track down his sources at BFI, and hope to resume my final trip very soon. The Jerome Robbins Foundation has stepped up to help with the funding, but there is much yet to do, including the backing up of all 46 interviews into a digital format. There are other very exciting aspects of the film under way, including animation, which i will share soon.
Please know I will continue to work towards completion of this Documentary and am excited with the direction it is now moving! I had always wanted to create a universal project of how comedic movement has shaped dance, and am now, that much closer.
I wish you all my very best and thanks again, for all your support! Take care
Most Sincerely, Betsy
