My name is Patrick Mitchell, and this is my 29th Kickstarter campaign! I'd like to introduce you to the The NRF24L01+ Arduino Wireless Transceiver Shield! PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DON'T SEE A REWARD TIER THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS, CONTACT ME, AND I'LL ADD IT! =D
This shield is the centrepiece of this campaign. One hub shield can easily communicate with up to 64 other shields in the area by assigning slave addresses using the on-board 6-selector DIP switch. The range is excellent, and you can even replace your NRF24L01+ with an NRF24L01+PA/LNA module. More on this later. The shield, however, is not the only piece of hardware that you'll be able to pledge towards. We also have designed NRF24L01+ relay boards that have the ability to control four AC or DC devices each, and also have the capability to control an electromagnetic lock! On top of that, we have multi-button transceiver boards and motion sensing transceiver boards. All of which can work together, and all of which will be provided with code samples!
So let's talk more about the hardware, shall we?
The shield has two momentary push buttons, an LED, and a slot for an NRF24L01+. Each shield pledged to will come complete with the NRF module (Obviously). You can use this shield to communicate with other nearby Arduinos, control the optional relay board, receive button data from one of the multi-button boards, or receive a notification of movement from one of the PIR motion sensing transceiver boards. Create your own code, use the provided code samples, or modify the provided code samples to suit your circuit application!
The Relay Board:
This board houses four relays which can be used to control high power AC or DC devices wirelessly. There's even an option that allows for you to control an electromagnetic lock! It also has a 6-selector DIP switch that allows for you to create your own address. The shield or multi-button board can control up to 64 relay boards! The relay board has three program options as well. You can choose to latch a specific relay when a signal is received, or you can have a specific relay turn on for two seconds, then automatically turn off after two seconds, OR you can have a specific relay turn on for 100ms, and then automatically turn off. You can select between these options by making a selection on the secondary 2-selector program DIP switch. A video manual will be provided! The on-board chip is an ATMEGA328P, so you can use your Arduino UNO to make changes to the software as you see fit. Here is this bad boy with an electromagnetic lock attached!
The Multi-Button Control Board:
You can use this board to either transmit or receive. It can be used to speak with up to 32 other multi-button boards. There are eight buttons on this board, but only buttons 1 through 7 are implemented in software. The 6-selector DIP switch allows for you to create your own address, and also acts to select whether or not you're in transmitter or receiver modes. You can use the buttons to transmit, or you can use the pins on the pin rail to send data with an external arduino. To top that, when in receiver the pins on the pin rail act as outputs, so that you can send received data an external project! A video manual will also be provided.The on-board chip is an ATMEGA328P, so you can use your Arduino UNO to make changes to the software as you see fit.
The PIR Motion Sensor Board:
These boards are neat. You create the board address using the on-board DIP switch, and that address will act as a room number. Up to 64 different rooms (boards) can communicate with the shield. Using the shield, and the Arduino UI, you can use the serial monitor to tell you when motion is detected in a specific room, or number of specific rooms. If I have board address "5" in the kitchen, and motion is detected, the serial monitor on your computer (connected to a shield) will say "Motion detected in room#5". Use the supplied code samples, or create your own! The on-board chip is an ATMEGA328P, so you can use your Arduino UNO to make changes to the software as you see fit.
Sample Code & Video Manuals:
I'm a big fan of video manuals. Each of these modules are easy to use from a hardware standpoint. With the commented code samples that I'll be providing, you'll easily be able to get started right away. From there, you can edit the code as you see fit. Each board will see its own video manual published by the end of this campaign. Code samples will all be provided by the time rewards are shipped. Two weeks after this campaign begins, I will have enough information to forecast the number of components, assemblies, circuit boards, electromagnetic locks, and power supplies that will need to be ordered.
Three weeks into this campaign, as long as the goal has been reached, all hardware orders will be submitted and paid for. I will also be starting the video manuals at this time. Once each video is completed, they will be uploaded to youtube, and the links will be published to the campaign, so that pledges will have early access to them. If the goal is not met by the third week, then (Goal-hit pending) the hardware orders will be submitted by the fourth week, or by the end of the campaign.
Assuming that things go well, then I should have all of the hardware in-house either just before Christmas day, or just after. All rewards will be shipped by the end of January 2019. All video manuals and code samples will be provided prior to rewards are shipped.
Thanks to Kickstarter, and the wonderful Kickstarter community, I've been able to bring so many of my designs to life. The funds from this project will allow for me to do just that. I will continue to think of fun electronic devices to bring to the market for as long as this community allows for me to do so. Risks and challenges
No real risks, aside from the potential of a short shipping delay - although no such shipping delays have occurred in any of my past successful campaigns. I have solid, and long lasting relationships with my hardware manufacturer and PCB fabricator. I have many reliable sources for the components and accessories required for filling reward shipments.
