About this project
The Solar Saucer is a mobile solar powered art installation. It has 6 pv solar panels that charge 16 deep cycle batteries that power everything from a DJ and sound system to lights and cell phones.
The Solar Saucer is built entirely from found and repurposed material. It is built on an old boat trailer and all the metal came from either the recycling center or the garbage.
The Saucer has been used in so many applications as it is an art piece, an educational tool, a functional solar array, a mobile DJ booth and a crash landed flying saucer. We have been coast to coast with this art installation giving presentations and performances on the 5 Rs Recycling, Reducing, Restoring, Reusing and Rethinking. We are often asked to bring the Saucer to schools to educate on Art, alternative energy and the importance of the 5 Rs and have educated and inspired thousands of kids.
We have put all of our time and money into keeping this thing on the road and its time for a major over haul. We have done a great job of shoe stringing this project along for so many years but solar panels, batteries axels tires etc all cost money.
We are looking for your support to help keep this project on the road and to continue spreading the word.
