More ENnies nominations, and a Yellow King/Dracula Dossier crossover

Moar ENnie noms

After the spectacular success - thanks entirely to your tremendous support, for which we are deeply grateful! - of the Dracula Dossier at last year's ENnie awards, we're delighted to let you know that the collection of time-spanning Dracula Dossier adventures, The Edom Files, has been nominated for a 2017 ENnie Award for Best Adventure, and our Free RPG Day Flipbook, featuring the Dracula Dossier starter adventure The Van Helsing Letter, has been nominated for Best Free Product.

Voting is now live until July 21st, and we'd be honoured if you would consider casting your votes in Pelgrane's direction.

And if you wanted to hang out with us before the ENnies ceremony, and sit with us during it, we're taking part in the ENnies Dream Date auction this year. There are two spaces available, and the lucky auction winners also get a signed copy of Cthulhu Confidential, our two-player noir mythos game, and a limited edition Pelgrane t-shirt. You can bid on the first space and the second space for one more day only.

The Yellow King/Dracula Dossier crossover

As indispensable agents who did more than we thought possible to alert the world to the dangers contained in The Dracula Dossier, we now wish to inform you of another weird horror only the GUMSHOE system can contain.

You may already have spotted our latest Kickstarter, for The Yellow King Roleplaying Game. Inspired by Robert W. Chambers’ influential cycle of short stories, YKRPG pits the characters against the reality-altering horror of The King in Yellow in four hardback books, served up together in a beautiful slipcase.

The campaign page has all the reality-shredding details, including the latest stretch goal: a Dracula Dossier crossover. If we hit it, this stretch goal will unleash a Crossover PDF with foe profiles for all Dracula Dossier bloodsuckers who might conceivably show up in Paris in 1895, and notes on treating a Dracula Dossier campaign you’ve already run as a previously unrevealed precursor to your Yellow King series.

Check out the full details on The Yellow King Roleplaying Game Kickstarter.

A quick note to backers at the physical Hawkins Papers levels:

We really appreciate your patience with us while we pulled these together. Producing these artefacts to the standard we wanted to deliver to you has been a long and difficult journey for us, but your unfailing support in comments and emails has made it so much easier to endure. Thank you all.

And now, the photos you really wanted to see!

Royal Mail collected almost all the packages at lunchtime yesterday (Monday 6th March). Here's the guy loading them onto his Royal Mail truck.

DHL pallets ready to go!
DHL pallets ready to go!

The only ones they didn't collect are the orders for the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. You can see these on the pallets above - DHL are collecting them literally as I type this, at lunchtime on Tuesday 7th March.

TL;DR: THE HAWKINS PAPERS ARE ON THEIR WAY.

I'm eagerly awaiting hearing when the first ones land...

I think that's it, folks. It's been a pleasure delivering your Dracula goodness to you. And as always, the fastest way to get a response to your comments or questions is by emailing us at support@pelgranepress.zendesk.com.

Or rather, D-7, being days until the physical Hawkins Papers start to ship from our secret base in Devon, UK, where they're currently being assembled.

We sent the final shipment of documents, along with the list of shipping addresses, to our shipper two weeks ago. He then confirmed he had all of them, and laid out each of the documents on long shelves ready for picking:

Once he had them all laid out in a nice, accessible circle, he went around and picked one document from each pile, and put it into a pre-box box:

(I've been assured this process was not so quick in real life). One he had done that, he had a complete* set:

He then tidied them neatly into boxes:

And then putting them in boxes:

(We considered shipping them as-was, to encourage additional deterioration, but decided against it).

* About halfway through this process, he discovered pages #2 and #3 of the Seward Serum report in the bottom of a box. And so he had to go back and open all the "complete" boxes, and add those back in to make them actually complete.

I'll add one final update once I have confirmation from our UK shipper that they're all in the post. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please email us at support@pelgranepress.zendesk.com for the fastest response.

So, about that

We've spent a lot of time on the Hawkins Papers this month - burning, staining, folding, repeating. And we haven't managed to do much outside of that as a result. It's become obvious that it's unfeasible for the company for me and Simon to work on them to the extent that we are.

What this means is that we will have to cut back to working on them on evenings and weekends, and they will be much later than I'd originally planned. I anticipate there's at least another full month of work in finishing them off, but convention commitments mean that I'm out of the office for most of the next six weeks, and I think it's realistic to underestimate the amount we'll get done over the holiday season - even if we do rope in help from friends we meet at other games (thanks Joanna, Sam, Elina, Lorenzo, and Pablo!)

I want to make a commitment it's possible for me to keep, and so I believe a reasonable delivery date is January 2017. I appreciate that's later than I suggested in my last update, and for that I apologise - the variation within the project made it difficult to reliably estimate how long each task would take until we actually sat down to do it. I'm really sorry again about the delay. We've learned a lot from this project about our capacity as a company, and we are confident we'll be better able to create more manageable rewards for future Kickstarters.
