As most of you know, Sandy Petersen is the legendary game designer who is an expert on the Cthulhu Mythos. He used his interpretation and vision of the mythos to create the award winning Call of Cthulhu role playing game. After that, he created the award winning Cthulhu Wars board games. Next he adapted the Cthulhu Mythos to both Pathfinder and D&D 5E.
In the board game world, you can't find a better and more passionate Cthulhu expert than Sandy.
Sandy has also worked in the video game world on Civilization, Doom, Quake, Age of Empires, and Halo Wars.
My name is Joe Ward and I am the owner of Ultimate Custom Coins. We have teamed up with Sandy Petersen to create the Cthulhu Mythos coins.
My wife and I have had seven successful Kickstarter projects. All of these projects had fantastic reviews and were delivered ON TIME or EARLY. We take the trust backers place in us very serious and we will be handling this project and coordinate all fulfillment operations. We answer most questions and comments within minutes.
I am also the creator of Dice Coins. We have sold over 35,000 Dice Coins in the last several months to fantastic reviews. The Cthulhu Mythos coins are part of our Metallic Legends line of collectible coins. They will be identical in quality to the Dice Coins - same size, material, thickness -everything except they are not designed to function as Dice Coins. They are designed to be amazing collectible coins.
Our last Dice Coins project in late 2018 received hundreds of positive comments. You can see them on our last project page, but we grabbed ten of the comments and posted them below. All of these are quoted from our Kickstarter backers:
Aistis: I must say, the coins look even greater in person. They are just amazing. :)

$25,000 in pledges - UNLOCKED
This stretch goal has now been met and the Cultist coin is UNLOCKED.
When we reach this amount, the Cultist coin will be unlocked and the mold will be commissioned. The Cultist coin will be a Black Metal coin.
This coin will be available for $5 as an Add On to any current pledge level. It will also include a stand and this will NOT result in any shipping increase! For example, if you pledge at the 3 coin level, you can add $5 to your pledge for the Cultist coin. During the pledge manager, you will be able to select your 3 coins from the original 10 coins and the Cultist would be included as your fourth coin.
Here is the concept art.
Update: A photo of the rough mold is below. Right now, the mold still needs some polish work before being used to create the coins.
$35,000 in pledges - UNLOCKED
This stretch goal has now been met and unlocked!
When we reach this amount, all backers will receive between 1-4 FREE velvet coin pouches. The pouches are about 3" by 4" and you can place a coin in each pouch and carry the coins safely in a box, bag, pocket, etc.
Your final pledge level determines how many FREE pouches you receive. If your final pledge level is from 3 coins to 9 coins, you will receive 1 FREE pouch. This will be a black pouch.
If your final pledge level is from 10 coins 19 coins, you will receive 2 FREE pouches. One will be a black pouch and one a red pouch.
And if your final pledge level is 20 coins or higher, you will receive 4 FREE pouches. You receive one black, one red, one blue, and one green pouch.
$45,000 in pledges
When we reach this amount, the Elder Sign Pin will be unlocked. All backers who pledge at 10 coins and above will receive 1 pin for FREE! If you pledged for two sets, you will receive 2 pins for FREE.
For backers at 9 coin pledge levels and below, the pins will be available as an Ad On for $3 each.
The pins are 1.25 inches in diameter and have a smooth polished finish - like a Disney pin. The base metal will be black.
Below is a drawing of the pin. However, there is also an example of another pin we did that will be identical in shape, size, and design with the Elder Sign pin.
This project is Euro friendly for import taxes/duties. You should not be charged any additional taxes/duties if you are in the European Union.
For ALL other countries, any import taxes/duties are your responsibility. For most countries, this is not an issue that our previous backers encountered.
These are the shipping rates for the 3 coin to 10 coin (complete set) pledge levels:
Canada is $19 - European Union is $24 - Australia is $26 - Rest of the World is $27
At 11 coins and up, unfortunately it jumps to a different shipping tier. Add $10 for Canada, $12 for European Union, $13 for Australia, and $15 for Rest of the World.
International shipping rates are terrible. We wish they were not this high and we don’t make any money off of shipping. After exploring numerous options, this is the best we can do. So why are they so high?
First, Kickstarter takes 9% from the shipping charges we collect. We then have to buy packing boxes, filler material, tape, labels, and pay some labor charges when we need assistance. Our coins are small, but heavy, and we have a very short delivery time compared to a typical board game project. So we ship them by air from the United States to our international backers. This is not cheap. If the coins are shipped to the EU, we pay the VAT import taxes. In addition, there is a processing fee for the shipment. Our fulfillment partner then charges us to process the order. We then get charged the actual freight charges to ship from within the EU. When we pay our fulfillment partner, there is a 3% payment processing fee. As you can see, it all unfortunately adds up.
Cthulhu coins come in a plastic sleeve. We check the sleeves prior to shipping but even with our best efforts, sometimes during shipping the seams may rip or the sleeves may get damaged with rough travel. We can't control this so we consider the sleeves disposable packaging. If it comes in good condition, that is a bonus. If not, we can't replace them. The plastic stands also come in disposable packaging.

Risks and challenges
