PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY IS COMPLETE. ALL WE NEED IS YOU!
This is no ordinary crowdfunding drive. We want you to film your own light-hearted Groucho clip and send it to us. Every single one we receive will then feature in the final film.
Groucho is a short film about a (thus far) fictitious fun protest movement that sticks two fingers up at the kind of petty surveillance and monitoring that bugs us all on a daily basis: CCTV, parking charges, speed cams and smart phones in our faces. Online trolling, tracking and bosses that monitor how many times we go to the loo. Everywhere we look there is a camera trained on us or some kind of technology trailing us. Some forms of monitoring keep us safe but many others just harrass and cajole.
Our film traces the origins of the Groucho movement to an office worker called Hayden Doyle. Bullied and constantly under the camera's gaze, Hayden wakes up after a boozy office party to find someone has used a permanent marker on his face to make him look like Groucho Marx. He makes a stand against surveillance that goes viral and inadvertently triggers a global protest movement.
WHAT WE NEED
Filming is nearly complete. Although we have some professional production credits this is a self-funded project and we are therefore looking for a little financial help to fuel our festival drive and this campaign features exciting rewards and incentives. Your money will allow us to enter the film to the key film festivals across the globe and reach as many people as possible.
But more than anything... WE NEED YOU. Everyone who donates £20 or more will be sent a Groucho Mask as a matter of urgency and asked to film a little clip on any device and then send it to us as quickly as possible.
1: Donate £20 or more and we'll send you a Groucho Mask (along with all the other rewards where appropriate).
2: Put on the mask and film a little clip of yourself using your smartphone in front of a recognisable landmark or roadsign in your area (think Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, Houses of Parliament or the equivalent). We need this to be global. We also need it to be fun - so make it as wacky as you can. Full details and some filming suggestions will be included in your mask send-out pack.
3: Send us the footage as quickly as you can (we will forward you simple digital delivery instructions once you've pledged).
4: We will add your footage to the final film and you'll receive a credit!
YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED TO:
1: Pay for Film Festival Entry Fees. We will be targeting all the major short film festivals.
2: Fund basic marketing materials to be used in festival promotion.
3: Pay for the Groucho masks that we will send out to you so you can send us clips.
4: Pay for 'Mask Pack' postage to national and international addresses.

Risks and challenges
All projects have their risks but principal photography on Groucho has been completed and the main edit is progressing nicely. The only thing that's missing from the final film is your clips. The only risk is that we don't receive them in time - so please do shoot them as soon as you receive your mask and send them off pronto! Details for digital delivery will follow. The film will be completed by August 2015.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
