What is "The Fallen"?
The Fallen is a non-profit fan film based off one of the biggest video game franchises around, Halo. Our goal is to create a story driven film with high quality effects and a realistic look inspired by films such as "Band of Brothers".
Since the successful launch of our 'Prologue' fan film, we've taken into account all of the feedback and suggestions from the fans to improve our films. We feel that our last teaser, 'Crucible', better demonstrates the feel and appearance we are going for, and with two great examples of what we are capable of for your consideration, we are now ready to tackle the full short.
Our ultimate goal is a ~20-40 minute short film that will tell the story of a group of Marines fighting to survive during the events of the first Halo game with high production values that do justice to the franchise.
Why make a 'fan' film?
While we are finally seeing some headway withs the announcement of the official Halo webseries, "Forward Unto Dawn", we feel the Halo universe is large enough for many different unique visions to be shared. Whether you're interested in the science of the Forerunners, the politics of the Insurrection, or the horror of the flood, there's a story out there for you. As a smaller, independent production, we have the flexibility to craft the stories that a major studio might be hesitant to take on as well as the ability to respond quickly to feedback. We enjoy interacting with fans, and hope that projects such as "The Fallen" help the Halo fan film community grow and inspire future film makers to craft their own vision of the Halo universe.
Help prove that one film isn't enough for Halo fans by donating and sharing! By helping us reach our goal, you'll be ensuring that there is enough interest out there to invest in making additional high quality fan films for the community to enjoy.
About the team:
We have proven an ability to complete a polished product under time and budget constraints, with all of our videos being done on a shoestring budget. All of our crew have volunteered massive amounts of time, effort, and equipment because of their love and belief in the film's vision, and thanks to them we have managed to make a high quality film without breaking the bank.
Many of our prop designers and actors are current or prior military and have served overseas with combat units, giving us unique insight when it comes to approaching the story of the UNSC Marines and ODSTs. We have an extremely talented visual effects crew, including some with ties to WETA workshops and "Portal: No Escape", and you can see some of their great work on this page and on our website. Our 'production companies', San Diego based Warehouse 1904 and Los Angeles based Bloody Underground Productions, are people with a passion for film making who have pooled their resources together to produce quality independent film, and you can see some of their prior work on YouTube. Our team is one that is truly driven out of a love for the film and is filled with talented folks who have sacrificed a lot just to see this project come together.
When I saw the talent behind this film, I immediately knew that this was the crew to deliver the Halo film that I, like many fans, had longed for. I believe we have the talent and the dedication to deliver a high quality film, and encourage you to review some of the cast and crew profiles as they become available on our website.
Where your funds will go:
The majority of the funds will be dedicated to Visual FX and 3D modeling. We're really trying our best to make the Covenant as convincing and menacing as possible and to do that we need to hire some amazing talent to make them come to life, and do so in time. They'll also be working on vehicle models such as the Pelican, Lifepod, Banshee and even the Halo Ring World.
Many of our talented effects artists are donating their efforts free of charge, and we hope to reward their willingness to dedicate so much of their time to the project.
Most the other funds will be dedicated to funding locations and set design for scenes that take place inside the Pillar of Autumn, Lifepod and Pelican Dropship.
We will also use funds to compensate talent. Great visuals are empty without a compelling story, and to deliver that story we need talented performers and crew. We will be using funds to ensure that those who come out to help film are provided with meals, insurance, and the tools needed to succeed.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand not everyone has funds to donate. Just the same, we appreciate your support and hope you take the time to tell your friends about us. Share us on Facebook and Twitter and participate in our community!
