About this project
Cliff and Ivy: Lost Your Soul
Cliff and Ivy: My Medication
Cliff and Ivy plays music with a mix of influences- gothic, punk, industrial, dance. Cliff and Ivy perform live with a six member band. We are based in Anchorage, Alaska. We are going to celebrate our latest album, Equilux, and our 25th anniversary, and play some show dates in Los Angeles: June 27 at Skinny's Lounge, opening for Year of the Dragon- who is led by 2 members of Fishbone! June 28 we are at Harold's with The Veins! June 29 we play 2 shows- a matinee at the Redwood, and in the evening we headline a goth club night at Zoey's in Ventura!
On the east coast we'll also play at The Space in Connecticut Aug 8, John and Peter's in New Hope PA on Aug 9, and The Brighton Bar on Aug 10. Our shows are already confirmed and we are excited to share our music along with some great bands!
Equilux was recorded in Los Angeles, produced by Ashley Witt, and is represented on All Ears Music. Equilux has received great reviews in local and national underground media. Recently Equilux was reviewed in The Big Takeover, Issue 71, print issue, and Dark Beauty Magazine #15
Living in Alaska, it's hard to connect and collaborate with others who share your mindset and influences, especially a producer who "gets" your music! We must travel "outside" to expand our circle, which creates another layer of logistics to work through.
When we perform in LA we get to open (6/27) for punk/funk/rockers Year of the Dragon, a band led by members of Fishbone! We'll share the stage with deathrockers The Veins on 6/28... and other great LA bands. We will also have the opportunity to record a short live session with Ashley Witt.
When we perform on the east coast we also will have the opportunity to record new music with KRAMER producing, and to work with William Michael Knapp on drums. KRAMER has extensive experience working with bands like Galaxie 500, White Zombie, The Butthole Surfers, Bongwater, and many others!
This project will result in a new Cliff and Ivy album, produced by KRAMER, with special guest drummer William Michael Knapp!
Cliff and Ivy have played music, created and finished recordings, performing together for 25 years! This project represents a fulfillment of our years of collaboration!
We're excited about the rewards we are offering! We can't wait to share our music and art.
Here are some photos of the hand painted VANS sneakers we are offering for one of our rewards. Let Ivy know your shoe size and she will hand paint a new black pair of VANS with the art from Equilux, as shown! Each pair also has a leather patch at the heel with the message NULLAM DOMINO SERVIMUS (we serve no master) on the right heel, and a lyric phrase on the left heel. (this pair has IMMORTALIS INSCIUS- "Immortal inconscious"). All artwork/patches are permanent and will not come off the shoes! VANS are totally comfortable and they are well made so they last a long time! If you choose this reward you will have original art for your feet, each pair is unique!
Before we were Cliff and Ivy, we were Warm Love (hardcore punk), Moby Dick (punk/industrial), Lesser Koodoo (post-punk/industrial) and Turan Sul (post-punk/tribal-industrial), our previous bands with great musicians and friends from NJ and CA. We've never released these tracks to this day, except through this reward. All the tracks are remastered from the original files. This collection includes 26 tracks, and 4 are tracks by our band Moby Dick, mixed by William Tucker (Ministry/My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult/Pigface/Regressive Aid/Chemlab), ultra rare and unheard. If you like early industrial music or just like rarities- check out this reward description for details.
Here's a link to Lesser Koodoo's track "Out", one track of 26 on the Cliff and Ivy Retrospective album! Live at CBGBs 1990, mixed by Tommy Victor (Prong/Ministry). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf6-5sK1SLM

Risks and challenges
All of the products that result from our project, and the rewards that we will need to fulfill are going to be created and available on a timeline. We feel that we have addressed potential delays by giving enough time for the completion of the project. Custom items and artwork will take some time to create but we feel we have given appropriate deadlines. Outside of the recording, mixing and mastering process for new music, we have the capability to fulfill all rewards "in-house". Cliff and Ivy are motivated by schedules and deadlines. If we encounter delays we will connect with any backers who are affected to work through the delay.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There is now- thanks to a few requests from you! Thank you for thinking of this reward idea!
