Unleashing in August 2018
Expect the Unexpected
'Dissonance'...the very meaning of my album's name foreshadows what is to come, "A tension or clash resulting from the combination of two disharmonious or unsuitable elements." But the "unsuitable elements" I am alluding to are not what you think. Read on...
About the Music
My 'Dissonance' album represents 2 1/2 years’ worth of writing, recording, and producing 8 highly technical progressive guitar compositions. The album features collaborative works with some of the greatest talents in the guitar and metal world including world-renowned guitarists Jason Richardson, Felix Martin, Adrian Bellue, and metal vocalist Shayley Bourget (Band: Dayshell) along with saxophonist Jameson Burton. To top it off, the album is mixed/mastered by Arch Echo guitarist/engineer, Adam Bentley. Each of the album's 8 songs are dense, showcasing many instruments from various cultures found in a variety of genres of music with a heavy metal flare, all under the guise of electronic production.

Music with a Mission
However, it's so much more than an album. With so many notable musicians losing their life to drug and alcohol addiction in recent years, this project serves as a catalyst to launch a meaningful discussion about the pervasive problems associated with drug and alcohol addiction. The project's intent is to bring light to this (often) taboo subject and to offer hope and help for those seeking recovery. And here is how it happens...
About the Short Film
When the album is played in sequence, it serves as a 31-minute soundtrack to its cinematic bipolar (despair/hope) companion, 'Dissonance: The Short Film.' Told through visual symbolism and elements hidden throughout the film, the dark and haunting story chronicles my own personal journey while battling addiction from 2011-2014, all set in a "nightmare" thriller setting. I'm not going to lie...it is tough to watch and it meant for mature audiences, delves into the spiritual warfare of addiction, and not for the faint of heart, and at times, it is absolutely heart-wrenching. However, the journey ends with a strong message of hope, help, and redemption. The short film ultimately serves as a public service announcement for those seeking help and recovery and resources for assistance. Recent Support for the Project
On the front end of this project, I have received unbelievable support for the addiction/recovery message of 'Dissonance.' With the help of private donations and the backing of Fretmonkey Records Studio, I was able to produce the audio recordings and hire the film crew at BearSpear Films to produce the film's footage on a shoestring budget. In addition, many individuals, local and statewide organizations, and businesses in Arkansas have contributed their time, establishments, and pro bono services in the making of this short film including the following: Kings Live, The Brick Room, Conway Regional Medical Center, ThornCrown Chapel, Christ of the Ozarks-Passion Play, Renewal Ranch Addiction Recovery Center, LeeAnn's Fine Jewelry, Miller's Entertainment Carnival, Heritage USA, Goodwin Manor, Joey Fanstar Apartment, Image Punch Entertainment, and more than 100 volunteers, cast, and crew members. Without the contributions of services by all, the project to date would have exceeded $100,000 USD; however, less than $30,000 USD combined has been spent to produce the album and short film.
How You Can Be Involved
Now, I need YOU to help me to deliver the Dissonance project and its message far and wide. Specifically, I must raise a minimum of $15,000 to manufacture, distribute, and market the double-disc CD/DVD to not only music lovers, but to those who could benefit from its message. To make sure the message gets out, every single person who orders the album will receive a copy of the short film for free! In addition, the digital format of the short film will be sent to addiction recovery centers, programs, and ministries across the nation. And for die-hard musicians, these funds will also allow me to produce tablature for the 8 songs and their associated play-through videos that include the album's featured guest artists. It’s a very tall order but completely doable with your support.
Extended Range Goals
But the project doesn't end there! The message of 'Dissonance' will be presented to concert goers beginning with my live show at the Festival Internacional de Guitarra Cartagena (Colombia) in October 2018 and will continue throughout 2018 and 2019 while touring. Extended goals include raising an additional $10,000 for a total of $25,000 which will allow me to add elements to the 'Dissonance Live! Show.' To further spread the message to concert goers, plans are currently in the works for the short film to be played behind me on a concert venue screen when playing live and on tour. That's cool but the fully produced version expands that vision to include the film being fully synced to my live set and to a specialized guitar and stage lighting. Fully realized, it requires a customized LED light (electric) guitar to be built by guitar luthier Brandon Toney of Renown Guitars. The guitar can transform the 'Dissonance Short Film' to a light show with images on the actual guitar. So, additional funds beyond the initial $15,000 USD raised in this campaign will contribute to the additional costs to build the 'Dissonance' customized guitar, and the necessary equipment and software required to sync the guitar, stage lighting, film, and sound. Contributions totally more than $30,000 USD will allow me to add holographic features to the Dissonance Live! Show and will showcase important symbolic elements from the short film; hence, visually enhancing the message of ‘Dissonance” and creating the ultimate interactive experience for concert goers.
It Takes a Village...Including You
I have been blessed to have great support for my music and this project. To date, I have used my modest success in the guitar world as a platform to promote addiction recovery in the music world, a personal experience I know all too well. Once again, I am honored to have the opportunity to use my music as a platform to turn my former "MESS" into a "MESSAGE" for all. I would be greatly honored If you would partner with me on this journey to help make a significant change in the lives of those living in addiction – it’s a disease that impacts entire families and is not bound to socio-economic status, race, or gender. Together, we can jumpstart a music movement that supports conversations leading to addiction recovery. And in return for your support, you can receive some cool incentives created specifically for this project.

Risks and challenges
Every project comes with its own unique risks and challenges. However, I am prepared to overcome each of them. From the onset of this project, individuals and businesses have supported the project's mission. To date, the project has been produced on a shoestring budget. There is a scaled-down plan in place that will allow this project to release on time (in early fall) if funding goals are not met. Much of the work has been completed, and all possible outcomes have been considered.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
