International Shipping Update 2
After many people inquired about the steep international shipping costs, we decided to take a closer look at getting these rates down for our international customers. We tried to figure out a solution using a flat rate envelope and a small flat rate box. The flat rate box wasn't close but the envelope we got fairly close to sealing, but that was without anchor hardware or the bag.
The next step was to take a close look at DHL, UPS, and FedEx. We created small business accounts for all of these carriers and spoke to representatives only to find out that their prices were not close to the USPS flat rate. According to a UPS representative, the reason for this is that each of these carriers needs a counterpart in each of the countries in order to deliver packages to residential addresses. Whereas the USPS can pass it off to the destination country's mail delivery system. We are not sure how entirely accurate that is, but it does make sense.
If you are a potential backer that is holding off because of the steep international shipping prices, please take a look at the USPS website to calculate international shipping cost and you will see we are doing our best.
